I have been following all the recent posts about our battles with ESA and DLA and AThos health medicals, and my own experience has been frustrating. I agree we should all involve our MP's and
RADAR and any other organisation that can help us.

i was watching TV the other night and they had someone on who was the Shadow Minister for the Disabled. I did not know the governments actually had a minister for the disabled. I think he/she is also someone who should be given the information on how badly treated we are, so I think we should also write to this person. I do not know who our Minister for the Disabled is (and I also think the Shadow Minister for the Disabled should be told too in light of the coming general election, but I am sure we could obtain the name from googling it or looking on the downing street website.
The government thinks Athos healthcare is wonderful and there aim is to get people back to work, especially those who are abusing the benefit system. Yes undoubtedly some people do abuse the system and there are those who could work, but for people like us who would love to be fit enough to work but because of our disabling conditions cannot do so, we should not be punished by this system.

Also the doctors employed by Athos healthcare, do they actually employ them permanently or are they just temporary workers without any commitment, the two different doctors I saw had poor english and i wondered iof they were temporary contracted doctors from overseas. The government is now looking into the poor out of hours GP services, from temporary doctors flown in from the E.U, maybe they also need to look at doctors used by the private medical service (athos) they spend tax payers money on.

Anne McGuire was minister for the disabled til October 2008 its now Jonathan Shaw. I'm searching for the email address but you can search on the 10 Downing Street website.

P.s I wrote to Anne McGuire in 2008 and she never replied. Nice.

    Hi Lizzie

I agree. I've signed petitions and written to 10 Downing Street. Arthritis sufferers should also contribute to this as it has an impact on us.

I wonder what first hand experience the Minister for the Disabled has? Let's hope they take their job and the people that matter seriously and not because it will fit into their Public Relations image.
