Hi, Sorry that your suffering with the headaches.
I get migraines & so far cant pin down what triggers them, neither can the gp. They do think mine stems from the neck as i have OA there.
I have found the only thing i can keep down so far & works is askit. Its a soluble asprin. I read somewhere that asprin is best for migraines. So ive got several forms of aspirin next to my bed just in case.
Mine are blinding, with sickness that can last between 12 & 14hrs. then takes me days to get over them. I really feel like ive been run over by a truck after an attack.
I really hope the meds help & you feel better soon.
    luv debs

Hi Jasper cat. Headaches can be really painful.

I started to get really bad headaches I had to lie down and it was hours before they went off. They got worse and worse still untill I could not lift my head off the pillow.

When the consultant found out after my hubby had to cancel my appointment, he rang up and told me to stop the Sulfasalazine straight away.

The headaches began to wear off. I have not had another headache since then.

Could it be due to your meds?

I do hope you over them soon.

    Trish xx

Hi Japsercat, are you taking methotrexate by any chance? This happened to me, the exact type of headaches, and I had to stop taking it.

    Hope you feel better soon,

    Hello Jasper.

I know I sound a bit biaised about it at the moment, but is it worth seeing if a chiropractitioner or osteopath could help you. Sometimes nerves get trapped at the top of the neck and can cause bad headaches. Has helped me in lots of ways, especially my OA. My neck is really bad at the moment and I am getting a lot of headaches on and off. Try and keep your neck warm.
I shall have a word with your GP/consultant and ask them what they think.

Oh Jaspercat I am sorry you have had such a horrible time. Lumber punctures do hurt and I so hope they will be able to stop either whats causing them or the head pain its self. Sending you a (((( ))))) and you take it easy there for a min. Luv Cris xx

Hi, thanks very much for your replies, the lumbar puncture was the worst thing, couldn't roll up into a ball due to the RA, so the doctor decided that I should sit up straight, he failed twice so had to try again, I was passing out, the nurse had to hold me up, never again hopefully love Jaspercatxx

Hi I suffer from migrains, which have spoilt things for as long as I can remember, I went to the migraine clinic a few years ago and saw a doctor who said I had neck problems and without even telling me what he was going to do, stuck steriod injections (about 3 or 4) around the neck area! :(
I felt awful, luckily my husband was with me and drove me home - I didn't get any better, but never went back!

My GP prescribes naramig to take as the headache starts and they work really well, even if the headache has got really bad, they work in about 1 to 2 hours. Its fantastic! :D .

I hope you find some relief, I really, really sympathise, its just so awful when a headache gets so bad. I worked with someone who used to get taken to the hospital regularly as her headaches effected her speech and movement, but, nothing was found wrong except allergy to chocolate and cheese!
    Feel better soon, love Sue
