Hi "pain buddies"
Well i had my appointment 2 weeks ago and after an examination he reckons i might have RA.
I should get the results of my blood tests next week and he wants me to have an MRI,Ultra-sound and x-ray.
I thought i would have to wait weeks for the dates to come through but they are all next week!
Oh my pain has been through the roof this week as i have been on holiday from work.
Sleeping in bed is totally impossible and the meds don't seem to touch the pain.
My worry is they won't find anything.
I am hoping they will find something so they can treat me and make things abit less painful for me.
Thanks for listening

Hi Heather
It would appear that your appointment went well in that things are now moving forward to find a diagnosis so treatment can commence. That is excellent that you have not had to wait too long either.
I would try not to waste valuable energy worrying. Best wait as patiently as you can for the results and take it from there.
You know we are all here to help and support you. I am sorry to hear you are in such pain at this time but let's think positive and hope that your good care continues and help will soon be available for you.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry that you are having such problems with pain. It sounds as if you are getting good treatment and not having to wait too long.
Once the docs know what they are dealing with, they will be able to give you more help and support with the pain and hopefully, soon it will be much better for you. At the moment you are still in a sort of limbo, waiting for the test results, I know how difficult it can be waiting, its not something I am very good at!
One thing to bear in mind, though is that even if the test show nothing, that is a result and tells them to look for different things, as they know something is causing the pain. I don't know if that thought is helpful, but it is true. They won't give up and leave you suffering and make sure they understand how much you are suffering!
I hope all goes well for you and you soon get effective treatment.

Hi Heather
They will find something - they will see for themselves anyway.
A good rheumy will diagnose on the symptoms AS WELL as test results.
I too thought this and my bloods were negative but I was still started on DMARDs and different pain releif etc.
I am sure all will be well but I so know what you mean :!: I really thought I might get no help :? I thought they would think i was making it up
You take care
Love

Hi all
Thanks for all the replies.
It is quite a comfort to know that there are people who have or are going through the same thing.
What did put me off was the Rheumy saying he will only get in touch with me if he finds something!
Well if he doesn't where do i go from there?
My doc has been really good about things but because she is just a general doctor and doesn't specialise in one specific area she doesn'e seem to know what to give me for this pain.0 -
Heather
If he finds something - he may need to do something urgently.
Have you got a follow up apt date?? If you dont get one or havent got one in a bit (give em time for results) then chase it up yourself. Ring his sec for advice.
You do sound still a bit up in the air. Thats how it is at first - you'll soon get into the run of things
You're doing well
Love

Hi Heather
I am sure that the rheumi would write to your gp with his findings or whatever. I would leave it a reasonable amount of time and if you do not hear anything from the rheumi contact your gp. I totally appreciate your concern that although you have a caring gp she is not specialised in the field of arthritis. She is able to refer you though to people who are specialised and are there to help and assist. You do not say where you are troubled with aches and pains. Is it general or certain joints? A rheumi is not the only person that can help.
Don't for goodness sake start to imagine that it is all in your head or let anyone tell you that, should your rheumi not contact you. You are in pain, not sleeping etc and it has to be addressed and ways found to get around it.
I am sure your rheumi will come up with something and be able to prescribe appropriate meds for the pain. If not, it is back to your gp to take another route to get help.
What meds are you on at the moment?
