Many thanks to the lovely replies from my posting re walking and rambling. I can see that some of you have been inspired, some of you still get a chance to walk and some of you have relayed your fond memories of past walking. It sure would be good if by magic we could join forces and have the time of our lives strutting our stuff!!! good luck and god bless.

Hi bellini I use to love to mountain walking and ramble, I have had to stop since my knee op as I now have OA in both patella and it's just to painful now.
I really miss it, I have been up the Ben and Snowden 3 times, last time I jogged down the miners track and got back to the car park in under an hour and I got to the top in 1.5 hours, and I did it all wearing steel to cap work boots, that was about 2 years before my knees got really bad.
I also use to do a lot of radio conrolled gliding mostly of Uffington White Horse hill but again knees have knocked a lot of that on the head

    Hello Bellini

Well, I for one am going to try and do a lot more walking.
I came back from my Chiropractor appt this morning and she does not want to see me for 2 weeks, which is good. She says that I am improving.
So I am going to try walking just that little bit more each time I go out. Usually catch bus into town and then walk round town. Instead, I shall do 2 circuits of the town = 1 1/2 miles. Shall rest a few times though. I shall also walk down to the postoffice instead of OH driving me. So that will be a start. I don't think I shall ever get back to my 6 mile walks.
I shall have to make sure I don't aggravate the hip too much, but Chiro thinks I shouldn't have any probs. Must try and get this weight off.

Hello mellman, I do appreciate your very interesting reply, in my younger days I used to walk alot around the Pentland Hills and The border moors also around Callender and Strathayre. I live near Edinburgh so the walking locally is very good. I had a lot of problems with my left foot for a while and always thought it to be arthritis, it infact was damaged nerves linking the toes. Quick couple of injections and so far so good. I would be really sad if I was unable to do my rambles. I hope you have other hobbies to compensate.

    Best wishes
    Cassie

Hello Joy, thank you for your lovely reply. So good that you have the idea to walk to the shops etc, you will probably meet people on the way to have a chat with, or at least take in the scenery. Walking can take your mind off things that are irritating, however you must take care of your hip. Good luck and happy wandering!!
