Hi
I posted over the weekend about a worrying I was having as I came in a very painful, red itchey rash all over my face adn neck. It got worse even today when my chest became very weezy and I needed to take my asthma pump which I havent needed for a few years and keep in just in case.
I have foudn out that it is the E110 . sunset yellow that is in the ibuprofen tablets I was told to start taking last week instead of the celebrex. I used to have asthma attakcs as a kid when I drank orange squash. The last few years manufactureres have reduced the quaitties you find in food and drink - so why not medications???
I feel quite annoyed but relieved at the same time.
I took one tablet lunch time and within a few hours I had a bad reaction. I am glad I finally know what is causing it as each time I was taking one the symptoms were getting worse and the sore rash was coming out on top of the existing rash from this mornings rash and my skin was starting to blister.
Why are manufacturers allowed to use such a thing in medications?
I am quite relived I didnt get this reaction especially with the shortness of breath when I got a chest infection recently!!!

HI Bailey,
wow! that must have been scary! It is staggering how many different things go into the food and drink we consume, and we do tend to assume that the meds are safer somehow but it seems not!!
glad you now know, because you can try to avoid such things, but that will be a trail in itself .... so good luck!
hugs

I know for definate that it is the E110 (sunset yellow) additive.
I havent taken the tabs since and the rash has started to go.
Got quite scarey as the last tablet i took made my chest wheezy like when i used to asthma as a kid. SO I will be avoiding this like the plague!0 -
Gosh Bailey
Glad you are ok now.
Mind you my friend who has asthma doesnt take any anti-inflams due to them making her asthma worse.
Poor you! sounds very scary

Thankyou for letting us know Bailey. There could be someone on here with a similar problem in the future.
I am glad you discovered the cause so quickly.
