Good morning all, now some kind soul at work has left a flier at my PC terminal here at work for me to look at, it's an advert for something called Artrosilium.
Now has anyone come across this stuff and is it as good as the advert says ie calling it a "miracle in a tube". So is it snake oil or is it really akin to medical alchemy.

Right over to you guys and galls. :?

If it sounds too good to be true, Mell, it probably is. The best way to prove it to yourself would be to try it......are they offering a free trial? If they want money upfront it's usually a no-no, they know peeps either can't be bothered or don't want to admit they've been had so rarely return things for their money back.

Thanks Annie, I have the same view, thing is it's from someone at work so I'm not sure if it's a p&#s take or not i've had a few here, if it isn't it does give an insight into how people without OA or RA don't have a clue and can't understand just how painful it can be if they think a tube of comercially advertised (snake oil) gel can cure the pain of bone on bone, even though strong opium bassed pain killers fail at this task.

    Hi Mell,

There really are no miracles I'm afraid...... wish there was  If its cheap enough give it a go but if its expensive well don't waist your money. Cris x

I'm with Cris on this, there are no miracle cures and personally I wouldn't waste any money on it whatsoever. Someone obviously thought they were doing you a good turn though which is nice :)

Hi Toni really tired right now didn't sleep to well my right knees is growling, oh I wouldn't be to sure the advert left at my PC wasn't a p%#s take, I had bumf for disabled scooters coming through my door last year and I know for a fact it was someone here that gave the company my address.

    HI

I sent for a free sample and then got the bumph about the cost -
something like £90 for 6 tubes.

It is a non greasy type ointment.

Actually I had had some itching on my lower legs for a while and it helped with that but as for the RA pain, dont think so.
Although the tube was very small so wouldnt like to speculate what long term useage would bring.

I did get follow up calls to ask if I would be ordering.

I googled it and found that there were lots of reports/reviews about this product and especially the company, so perhaps take a look.

Thanks Cath, Oh I Googled the address at work couldn't get on all web sites but the advertising standards came up with hit regarding false claims on this stuff, also it's not licenced as a medicine here and probably wont be.

    I know Mel
I saw exactly the same thing.

there is a London (I think) address on the paperwork
but apparantly its a New Zealand thing so I wouldnt
pay out £90, as for the product being unlicensed here
that says a lot doesnt it.

    Hi Mell

Just lifted this piece from the thinking is dangerous blogspot re your gel ( snake oil)

"Back in April 08, I wrote about Artrosilium - one in a very long line of dodgy products aimed at the 5 million or so Britons who have arthitis or similar diseases. Despite having been slapped by Advertising Standards Authority in May 2004 and made the MHRA hitlist for unregistered medical products in 2003 and so not allowed to be sold in the UK, the product was still being sold via the website link removed by Mod.(ECM)

It is as you thought, a crock of s**t
