Hi All

Thought i would introduce myself :)

My little girl was diagnosed at my local hospital a few weeks ago with JA. She has it in both her knees. She finds things a struggle most days.

We are still waiting to see the specialist in bristol in april. That will be her first appointment there with a specialist.

Would like to know if there is anything that i can do for her in the meantime while we are waiting to go to bristol. Have been to my GP and all he could give me was paracetomal for her.

Also what can i expect from the first specialist appointment? Its all been a total shock to us as we really didnt know that children could get this condition.

Anyways would be lovely to get to know you all

Dawn x :)

    Hi Dawn,

Oh that must be such for you both, and I think its so unfair when people are young let alone as young as your little one. A ((( ))) and a hope that it all stays calm for her. There are a few Mums but I think you would get a better result on either the living with forum or the young peoples one. Not as many people look in here..... I don't very often actually

Its nice to meet you though very sorry you have had to find the site. This lot are really nice and very supportive and hopefully you will meet the other Mums. Cris x

    Dear Dawn

There are quite a few mums with young children on the Young People's Zone. Perhaps you could copy and paste your message on that zone too. More people look on the other zones than this one. My heart goes out to you. I only learnt that very young children, even babes can be diagnosed with arthritis since I have been on this site (around 3 years) and also gained such a great deal of information about other forms of arthritis that I do not have.

You know that you can private message these mums on the other zone too is you wish. They do not call in that much because, like yourself, they are busy mums but I do hope that you can make contact with some of them and also read their postings. They may not be in quite the same situation as you, but you will see you are not alone with all this.

    Luv

    Dear Dawn

It is me again. It may be a good idea to write down all the symptoms your little girl has, all the things she finds difficult to do and also any questions that you would like to ask at the appointment. Ask if there is any other meds she can have if none are suggested. It is a good idea to take someone with you, if you are able as 2 people remember more than one and also the other person may think to ask questions that you may not.

I truly wish you well with this appointment and that you get some answers. Please do let us know if you have time. It must be heartbreaking to see your little one in such distress.

    Luv

    Thanks for your replies :)

I think we are still in disbelief with her condition. I was ignorant in thinking that its an old persons disease!!

I will post this on the young persons forum :)

sorry only just read your post, its quite a shock to hear that your child has jia. my daughter recieved that diagnosis may last year and it came as quite a shock to me as well. the first appointment is okay they just examine to make sure the arthristis is nowhere else and then they will answer any questions you have and what treatment will come next. probably not in that order but close enough. it is best to ask any question you have no matter how bizzare you think it is. i hope this helps im always hanging around if you have any futher questions im happy to help :):)
