Planter Fasciitis

Hi
I have been sufferering from Planter Fasciitis since last September.
I got a steriod injection in January, this was done by the Physio who I was attending for the problem with my shoulder.
I was given a Leeder Boot by Othotics, the same day as I got the injection and I was told to wear this at night in bed.
This really helped for about 4 weeks and then the pain started up again.
I had an appointment with the Foot Clinic yesterday and I got a Ultrasound scan.
I was told that a normal reading of the Fascia is 4mm, my left foot which I don't have any problem with was 5.2 and my right foot was 13.5 this being the one with the problem. They also said that there was trigger markers showing inflamation.
So they wanted to do another steriod injection yesterday using the scan as a guide to inject and then fit a plaster cast onto the right foot which I would need to keep on for 2 weeks.
Well I was shocked when they said I had to have a cast on.
I told them I would need to give my work some notice as I will not be able to manage to go to work as I have to take 2 buses to get there and just now it is diffictult enough using public transport with the stiffness and pain I get from the RA.
I asked if I would be able to put my foot down once the cast was on and they said no the foot must be rested for the full 2 weeks and that I will be given crutches.
I don't know how I will manage even around the house as my bathroom is upstairs as is my bedroom. I do have a bedroom downstairs.
Has anyone else had this done and how did you manage to get about.

    Hi

No I've not had it done , but it sounds like it's got to be worth a try. It also does sound pretty major - but reading what you have said - it sounds majorly bad too - so you have to fix it.

If you contact your local red crosss they can loan you a commode (not very nice I know) so you can stay downstairs for the duration. You can get by with good washes.

Do let us know when you have it and how you get on

    Love

    Toni xx

    Thanks Toni
I know I need to get this fixed because it is making walking very difficult with the pain and because I am not very mobile just now I have put on a fair bit of weight and this will be adding to the strain on my foot.
I am booked in to get this done next Wednesday at 08.30.
My hubby is coming with me and he will need to help me into the house as I have 5 stairs at the front door, I said that he will need to carry me (ha ha), he would then need hospital treatment himself.

My husband had dry needling done its a technique that stimulates blood flow in the area, it worked well for him, you can find info on the net about it.

    Good luck xx

    Hi
Thanks to all the replies, I am not looking forward to getting the injection because the one I had already was quite sore and I am sure that they are going to inject nearer to the arch of my foot, but I know I need this done because the pain is getting worse by the day.
I will let you all know how I get on with the crutches, not looking forward to this.
I tried to hop last night in the livingroom to see if I could do this, but seeing as I am as stiff as a board then I could not even get my foot of the ground my hubby was laughing his head off.
I will crawl up and down the stairs if I have to, I am laughing to my self as I picture this (hee hee).
Maybe we could film it and send it to you've been framed and get some dosh.
    Thanks again
