Hi,

Got a letter through the post this morning for a Specialist Podiatrist Appointment at my local infirmary for next month.

Im presuming thats to sort out some soles or cushions for my shoes maybe?

Either way, I think my first annoyance at my Dr was maybe a little harsh as things seem to be moving along and I'll quite happily admit when I'm wrong. Maybe he was listening after all.... :D

    Hi Caroline,

I hope it goes well and its ok to feel a bit annoyed even if you have to say it might be a bit premature. Let us know how you get on please? Cris

    Thanks.
At the time it didn't feel like he'd listened to me as he was chatting to his nurses more but maybe it was just his way... :?:

Looks like he did though and maybe I was a little too quick to judge

Ive been referred for physio, this padiatrist appointment and Ive got my OT appointment on Monday.

Will post again next week :D

    Hi there
although annoyed it sounds lilke your Gp has got all different appts all sorted for you which is good, instead of going to physio, then weeks later referred to podiatry, at least you are getting everything thats on offer......i think podiatry is v good and underestimated - i was v pleased with my appt which incidentally i was given because whilst with physio she had a trainee with her, his ears pricked up when i said walking on hard surfaces gave pain so i was referred, hey presto insoles which have helped. Good luck.

They usually make two pairs up for you.

When you first go in she will measure your feet and the insoles will be made initially to that. She will ask you to bring in your favourite shoes. No heels or slingbacks. You may have to purchase new ones. I get Padders. I find Hodders too expensive.
I am spoilt really, because Padders have a warehouse near us.

When the insoles come back (it's not quick) she will test you walking with the these in your shoes and then mark the necessary additions to these insoles. They will have to go back to the factory to have the additions done (it's not quick). Eventually you will get them back.
I am waiting for my 2nd pairs to come back and I have been waiting 10 weeks already. Usually takes about 12 weeks.
Anyway, that's what happens in this part of the country so if yours come quicker I would love to know.

No, they do much more. My husband is diabetic, so he goes because feet have tobe checked each month or two.

For myself, they have been brilliant and I am about to have my second pair of insoles manufactured. They see me every 8 weeks, because I have psoriatic arthritis and also a deformed toe nail that I cannot cut.

If you are not walking properly because you have arthritis in your feet, or you are flat footed, then they will try to help you buy the proper shoes and put insoles that have the necessary support in the right places. In turn, this helps you walk correctly and puts less strain on your back and legs.

I've seen one about insoles for my shoes, they didn't help much but in the end we found some trainers that help me.

I've never tried crocs, my trainers are velcro as my feet swell. Might try a pair of crocs.
