About three days ago I lost all my computer bookmarks/favourites
I have done nothing unusal with my PC and it appears I can't even add any bookmarks and start a new list.
I've tried restoring my PC to an earlier time and this has made no difference.
Do any of you know why this has happened and how I can get my bookmarks/favourites to work again?
I'd appreciate your advice.
Thanks from Legs who'd like to solve this mystery :?

hello i might be able to help, what browser are you using? just asking because i use orca browser and anytime i have to reformat my hard drive it always seems to save them and bring them back, also a good idea to back your stuff up on a regular basis i use a free software for this. i find firefox or orca browser or avant browser good
I hope this helpssylvia0 -
Thanks Only,
I've just asked Jeeves what a Browser is  and I think I use Internet Explorer and my Homepage is Yahoo. I do have a seperate hard drive for backing up my system and have an automatic Virus scan daily.
It's scary to re-format and I've only done it once and then had to re-type in my Outlook Address book which was 80 pages long so I'm not keen on doing that.
Would you know why my Bookmarks have broken?Love, Legs x

As Mell said, you probably need Joseph, Del or Rehab for this one. Just a thought - have you tried going into the search program, and looking for the favorites folder? See if it's lurking somewhere. Just remember to spell it the American way!!!
Probably teaching grandma to suck eggs here  , and I wouldn't know what to do with the folder once you found it anyway, but at least you'd know if it was still on your computer.
Sorry I can't be of much help!!!
Love from Lynn xxxx

just a thought if you have backed up your data, including photos and bookmarks should have backed up as well maybe your bookmarks might be there, and then your import them back to bookmarks, i know it may seem difficult or you could ask jeeves question or google " how do i restore my bookmarks " sometimes i do that if i forget how to get something back thats not on the screen ie, my rubbish bin

Try this first.
Favorites in IE are tied to User Accounts in Microsoft Windows. User Accounts allow multiple users of the same computer to create their own settings, personal preferences—such as the look of Desktop icons—and their own list of Favorites. So, when someone logs on to Windows using their personal account and then launches IE, he will see the list of Favorites he has created. When another user logs on using her own account, she will see her list of Favorites in IE.
One possible reason that the list of Favorites is missing is that you are not logged on through your own User Account. To rectify this, click Start, Log Off, and Switch User and then log on through your normal User Account. When you do this, Windows will load all your preferences and settings, including your Favorites.
Otherwise, if you are logged in properly than Restoring back to before you had problems usually clears this. But, as you can't save any favourites either, on IE look in View > Toolbars > and check that Favourites Bar is ticked. That should put in the favourites toolbar for you.
Try these first as there is more that could give you the problem.

I've tried restoring to a time when they were working but no joy there.
There are only two of us who use this PC and the Bookmarks don't work on either account. Even when trying to start a new list it doesn't allow me to add on the drop-down menu.
Meanwhile I've managed to start up a 'Quick Link' list on my Homepage ...the only drawback being that when I want to move pages I have to go back to my Homepage to access them...... and I have to copy the URL into the list and name it rather than just pressing one button like before  It's better than not having any at all.
Thanks for your help everyone.
