Hey everyone,

My partner has OA, Fibromyalgia, Chronic dail headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome and nerve pain. Now I live quite a while away from her (400 miles to be exact) and she visits me often. Infact over summer break she's looking to come up here for 3 weeks.

However the double bed I have here isn't the best in the world and it hurts her to sleep on it for a couple of days... Let alone 3 weeks.

I just wondered if anyone had any tips that might help ease the discomfort of my bed a little bit, just to make it easier on her.

Mike

    Hi Mike

 Why not treat her to a double bed of her choice - she is worth it.

Aye, I'd love to give her all these things but i'm currently living on a student's finance and can't afford those thing. When i'm a little older i'll treat her to the best bed ever seen! :P

    Hi Mike,

Have you got any spare pillows to prop her up wherever she's painful?

If she's thinking of staying with you for 3 weeks then she must have already thought about your uncomfortable bed and be prepared to put up with it ....so you might be worrying needlessly.

I find when I go on holiday after a few days my body can adapt to wherever I'm sleeping, she might be the same.

    Hi Mike
Have you thought of just the memory foam bed topping, you can get these quite cheap over the internet, also another thing which i have bought for myself is a "V" shaped pillow, which in bed she can put her her head to the position she sleeps and the long bit where her shoulder and back will be, so she has the comfort from head to back, they are not dear at all and you can get them from argos.

    Monica :D

    Hi

If you can't splash out on a new bed then buy a memory foam mattress topper (shop around online). I would recommend getting one that has elasticated sides - I have one in the spare room which came without elasticated sides and it tends to slide off the mattress.
    Argos have a good range.

I would also recommend memory foam pillows. I find sleeping under a feather and goosedown quilt more comfortable than a polyster one (provided you're not allergic to feathers).

    Hi

If you really can not afford any of these try getting a duvet (as thick as you can) and place this on the bed between the materess & the sheet it really works it makes it comfortable to lie on and gives extra warmth. Cheap solution.

Hope you and your partner have a lovely break.

    Best wishes

She said that memory foam things don't really work for her, but she's gonna point out some special pillows and things that might help. She was also saying about my current duvet vbeing too thick and heavy for her... With summer coming up i'm gonna need a lighter/thinner one so I can put that one underneath maybe...

    Thanks for the ideas guys.

And we have to sleep at some stage...

I suggest a memory Foam Topper which are relatively cheap and just rest on top of you existing mattress. Good firm but gentle support and good investment. Plus it wont hurt you to keep it on there all the time
