I wear varifocals because it got too complicated with reading glasses. I kept taking them off and losing them. ( A sign of advancing age :?: )

Getting older has many compensations, but it is essential to stay young at heart in order to fully appreciate them.

    Hi Guys

The optician told me that we get more long sighted as we get older, so that means that those of us who are short sighted should begin to see an improvement in our mid to late 40's. Unfortunately mine's getting worse, although I don't need glasses for reading, like val my night vision is seriously dodgy and I find driving in poor light very difficult. Had to have a field of vision test when I went to get sight checked this week. Very odd, am still awaiting the results.

    Hi Del

I always have a photo of the back of my eyes taken when I have my eyes tested. Some conditions like high blood pressure can be detected by the optician, so I think it is worth having done. It is strange to see inside your own eyes though.

    Hi Del

Thanks for the info about dry-eye. I've got that a bit in one eye, so think I should get it checked now.

I had my BP monitored after the optician said there were too many wiggly blood vessels at the back of my eye, but luckily it was OK. However, it has prompted me to check it myself, and I've bought a good BP monitor from Boots. My mother died of a stroke, so I am very aware of the importance of checking BP.
