    Hi Sylvia

I have three wheatbags but the only one I use is the Tisserand aromatherapy wheat cushion with the french lavender flowers. Designed in conjunction with physotherapists. The lavender smell does fade with time but for me that is a minor issue. Use heated in the microwave or chilled as a cold pack.

Can be bought from some Lloyds chemists around £15. I received a new one at christmas as the other one had been used so much it looked pretty disgusting

Can be purchased on line - Amazon I believe. Google Tisserand Wheat Cushion.

just be careful with them, they can get very hot. I remember our physio department banned them some years ago, after a couple of patients were burnt when using them.

    Hi Slyvia

I love my wheaties :) I have had three over the years. The first was a gift the second form the named Chemist and the third I got from a market stall beleive it or not.

    Good luck finding one.

I guess the sensible advice is not to get them too hot and not to put em on people who are unable to move them if they are burning them or have high pain thresholds...???

    Hope you find one

    Love

    Toni xx

You are right Toni, that is what I thought when they banned them, how about keeping an eye on the patients when using them?

Don't do what I do and set them on fire. Burnt at least 3. Someone said to sprinkle water on them each time.

I love my wheat bags. I got them in Home Bargains £1.99 each. I now always put a cup of water 1/4 full in the microwave with them, this seems to stop them burning and smelling bad. sometimes drop some lavender oil on too!

If you can sew, google wheat bag instructions, there are some tutorials for making your own on the web!

lakeland also sell lavender fragranced wheat bags.

I think the tip is not to reheat the wheat bags before they have fully cooled down so that they can't overheat.

I love my wheatbags too. I buy them online - my best one is massive - I heat it in the microwave. When you heat them up always put cup half filled with water in the microwave too for safety.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi,
I have a couple of wheat bags, bought them in local shops, body care I think? I keep one in my drawer at work and the others at home. Just make sure you follow the instructions - heat for minimum time based on your microwave strength - some are more powerful and need less time! Also best to put a cup of water in next to the wheat bag to stop it drying out (this can make it catch fire). Don't put it straight on you skin, leave for a minute as it will still be "cooking" straight after you take it out. I also use traditional hot water bottles and gel packs that you can heat or freeze but I like the wheat bags as I can hang them round my neck or round my head (for pain caused by inflammation in my jaw). I think they are safe if you use them arefully - like alot of things!
