Hello to everyone on this lovely sunny Sunday and happy mothers day to the mums out there. My son (my only child) is nursing the wounded in Afghanistan right now, but he took time to send me a lovely card and promised me to take me to dinner when he gets home.

Are there any arthritis sufferers living in central Scotland i.e. Edinburgh, lothians who would like to get together and form a self help group. I have been liaising with Arhtritis Care Scotland and they are willing to help and advise if required. My only experience here that is relevent is my rhuematiod arth. but I am willing to join in and maybe fund raise or have speakers, get advice, and generally socialise. What d'ya think?

Cassie

    Hi Cassie

What a lovely Mothers Day for you.

You can thank your son from me and all the other medics out there. My son was killed out there last year.

I have been sad all day. Now I stop to read this and what do I finds some other mum who has a son out there doing a brilliant job.

I don't live near you I'm in London but all the best I hope it works well for you

    Hi Cassie!

just read your post and think it's a great idea!

I am 45miles west of Edinburgh so not sure if I'm too far away but would be interested in chatting with you about it.

    Hope you get more recruits!

Hi Trish, I am so very sad for you and quite honestly right now I am crying for you. We families of our brave boys & girls must stick together -- my heart goes out to you, give yourself a big hug from me.

Hi Iris, I was thinking along the lines of a fortnightly or monthly meeting. There is a group a few miles from me but they meet on an evening once a month and I generally find that I am quite tired after tea. I would get some guidance from the Arthritis Care Scotland. 45mls seems a little far for you, let me know what you think eh?

    Hi Cassie,
evenings are a no no for me too...for the same reason as you; takes me all my time just now to get up off the chair in the evenings!

I am a bit far away (mind and body) but want to offer you my support if I can.

Why not post this on the 'Living with' Forum too? not everyone reads chit chat (mad not to) so you might get more scots peeps answering the call.

    :?: Hi
I am new to the forum I have a diagnosis of mutilple scerosis and in Oct was diagnoised with psoratic arthritis. I am currently taken prednisolone and Methotrexate. I have put on a lot of weight and feel very bloated .
Does anyone have any tips to lose the weight? I would also like to know if anyone has been on the managing pain course is it good?

Does anyone know if their are any self help groups local to Ashford in Kent.?

Look forward to hearing from you.
    Jane.

    Hi janehc,

If you go back from the forums to "Home", and then look at the tag on the top that says "In our area", you will be able to find exactly what is on offer in the way of self help groups etc. See the post from the webmanager on the 16th of March for a link to go direct.

    Hi Cassie

    I live in Edinburgh

Initially I was diagnosed with RA but after some prompting they rediagnosed me with PolyArthritis and SLE (a form of Lupus).

If I can help just get in touch with me.
