Hi. Anyone any help with FOOT/Toe operations experience. The balls of my feet are so painful and have dropped and toes now sadly going up and out and very bent toes. Operation of cutting ligaments and putting in pins suggested ??????????? Bit worried.

Hiya
Sorry your feet have become so sore. I haven't had an op on my feet but on my hands. But I would be hesitant to go for it if it meant scars on the bottom of my feet.
Plus I find that sometimes surgeons are very quick to go down the surgery route (not surprising I suppose) but I always ask if there are alternatives to try first.
You never know, the op might provide lots of relief and comfort.
Hope it goes well, whatever you decide. Not a very helpful reply - sorry!

Thanks for the quick reply and sensible words. I agree with you and am putting the brakes on despite the pain. Don't think it is common enough for good results yet. Am avoiding them at the moment and going through chiropody route but am worried as they are getting so much worse quickly0

Hi, I'm going in for op to remove excess bone and bits of damaged joint at base of big toe in a couple of weeks. It has got to the point where we have tried lots of other things without enoug success and my hip is being affected now due to the way I walk. Will let you know how it goes. Good luck with whatever you decide, best wishes, Josie0

Hi Jacquie,
That sounds very like what was done to my left foot years ago. I had the toe joints taken out and the toes fused with wore and strangely little corks on the end of the wires for 6 weeks. Mine also had the year before half the knuckle joint and a toe removed and well its not so bad actually and he benefits are immense.
I would go for it flower cus its so good to not have pain from shoes or toes that go all over the place as and when they want. The wire removal doesn't really hurt and the only down side for me was I kept catching the wires on things....... that in the first few days was very stupidI was in hospital 3 days and on crutches for 4 weeks and I promise you I have never looked back even though one toe only partially fused. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Cris x
