Wonder if anyone can help me, Went to my gp 2 weeks ago as i was unwell one of the things was being thirsty all the time, she did blood tests and were normal for diabeatis. I went to my dentist last week and told her about being thirsty and that i had a abscess on the inside of my cheek the week before my visit. She said my thirst or dry mouth could be related to my r/a as i have it in my jaw and should tell my rhuemy nurse the next time i see her.
I can have a drink and i'm still thisty, all this fluid has to go somewhere and so i am up all night going the loo. Does anyone else have this.

Julie

    Hi Julie

I do have a dry mouth, my gp says its the tablets which causes it, and yes i do drink alot of water, so like you i go to the loo during the night, but as i do not sleep well it does not make much difference to me. I know i once bought some tablets from tescos for my dry mouth, i cannot remember what they were called, they did help, but i just stopped using them, but if you ask at the chemist or tesco pharmacy they will tell you.

    Take care
    Monica :) .

I suffer badly with a very dry mouth, often can't speak in the mornings until I've had some water........there are a number of mouth sprays available can let you have more info if you want, just PM me.

It was a real problem for me at work at one time as I was doing a lot of training and couldn't speak for more than a few minutes at a time - not good when you're a trainer!

Well well, yes I have a dry mouth and never really thought anything of it but now its starting to make sense! I thought it was just because of the medication making my tongue sore! Nothing I drink makes me less thirsty - how strange.... xx

I've just gone through all my medication leaflets and noticed on the methotrexate one it said if you start to be thirsty more than usual contact your docter, so in the morning i am going to ring my rhuemy nurse. Will let you know what she says.
Annie will pm you when i have spoken to rhuemy.

    Hi Julie

I notice I get a really dry mouth when I have taken my meds. About half to an hour my mouth completely drys up, it is embarassing if I have had an early hossy appointment well, I start to talk and cannot say a word.

Now, I carry a bottle of water with me.

I do have RA as well though so not sure.

Have a night catheter won't need to get up then.

    Take care

I hope you finally got to speak to someone today. I also have a dry mouth. I know dry eyes are related, I'm not sure if dry mouth is too?

Having spoken to my rheumy nurse yesterday i decided to look on the internet went on a arthritis site and have now convinced my self that i might have lupus. I did this after talking to a friend about my simtems and she brought up the word lupus. Don't think i will tell my rheumy nurse will just wait and see.

    Hi Snowball,
Ditto re the dry mouth, mainly due to the mountain of pills, but also the arthur. I am never parted from my water bottle and can barely speak at times.
One thing that I do use is Biotene mouthwash, specifically to help dry mouth conditions. It isn't a miracle worker, but it does help at night, you can buy it over the counter from most chemists, if not they can order it. Might be worth a try as it has helped.

    Tace care
