Hi I recently put in for DLA. and was really suprised to recieve my award letter just 24 days after submitting it. I was awarded HRM and LRC for an indeffinate period. Can anyone tell me how long is indefinate?????? sounds a really stupid question as it really says it itself. But just wondered if I have to be re assessed at all. Thanks Susan xx

    Hi Susan,

that's great news, sorry can't answer your question, but just wanted to congratulate you on it. They must obviously have thought you well deserved it. It's good to hear that someone has been awarded DLA without any of the usual hassle, well done.

I applied in Jan, have just received a letter today to say that someone is coming to assess me. Can anyone tell me what actually happens? Do they walk around the house with you and ask what you can or cant do? It says that I may be asked to undress :?

Any help anyone? thanks (sorry to jump in on your topic Susan).

Hey thats ok, someone I know put in for DLA and had to go for a medical, she then waited 11 weeks for the decission. You should have seen her face when I told her it only took 24 days, but I did have medical back up. And reports from my GP. I do have other problems beside arthritis, in that I have Diabetic Neuropathy in both feet , both hands and one side of my face. Any way good luck when your accessed. Love Susanx

    Wow! Great news Susan :D:D

24 days must be some kind of record!

I've had HRM and LRC awarded indefinitely since 2004....and never been re assessed or asked for any further info.

Not sure if that would change if I ask for a review....which I am thinking of doing to see if I can get an increase in the care component as my 'coping' has gone down the tube!
My OT said I should as having help would make a difference.

I am a wee bit nervous of doing that though....big coward me.

...so it looks like you'll be ok then Susan! well done you! Iris x

    Hi Jay,

O9angell had a thread on DLA tips that the mods had to remove, I think...but there is still a link posted so if you scroll down the LWA posts you'll find it!
Maybe you should also post a thread of your own for advice from other peeps?
good luck with the visit though! Iris x

congrats Susan, hope my wife is as lucky. Indefinite for me has been high rate on both care and mobility since 1993.

Well done Susan, very pleased for you, as far as I know, it is indefinate, as it states, it used to be for life, but that changed, so maybe they check up every so many years.

Come on Iris, don't be nervous, I am at the fourth request for review, refusing to be told there is no need for change, when there is a great need as all my Drs agree. I gave up fighting for over a year, but now, I am going all out and will go to appeal and stand in front of the panel if I have to. I can walk you through it, we can go together

Wow that was a quick reaction - fantastic news for you. Can I have a copy of your forms!!! I have tried unsuccessfully on 3 occassions to get DLA - I have the LRC which I have had for many years, so any changes to my condition but they just recognise it.... Am going to have another try afetr being off work for so long this time and just progressively getting worse.

I looked at the previous links and will also follow the RA paperwork about completing the forms.

I also think indefinate is just that - maybe the odd review???

    Really pleased for you.
