    Hi there!

I would push it to the back of your mind a little too, until you get something in writing. Great that you have a date though. :)

That is great news Berty! Isn`t it? Yes, yes.

By all means, push all thoughts of the actual op and hospital stay to the back of your mind, until closer to the actual date. I would, however, suggest that you start making little plans for the more practical things. Stock up on shopping, perhaps cook and freeze some meals etc., talk through who is going to be responsible for what in the home whilst you are out of action. Treat yourself to some nice smellies, maybe pretty nighties to wear, and make a list of what you want to take with you. I planned everything like a military operation, but it did help to give me peace of mind.

If you need to ask about anything, there`s enough of us here now in the TKR Club, to be able to help..........Ange.

Hi Bertie, that is good news. I'd agree with Angie - get highly organised and planned and then put it out of your mind. Plan some treats for near end of April to keep your mind off it.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Bertyboy

Next Monday will be 5 weeks since I had my first TKR. I'm sure you'll be fine. My knee is settling in nicely and I can do more and more each day.

It must be nice to have a confirmed date.

    Regards

    Hi Berty,

Its a bit confusing isn't it but down here they use the day surgery as an overspill but the day wards can take overnight short term patients and maybe they are just using an available bed but its not being done as a day case if that makes sense. Try not to worry and hopefully when you phone they will set your mind at ease. ((( ))) Cris x

    Hi Bertyboy

I had to be at the hospital for 7.00 am on the day of my operation, but didn't have the operation until 3.50 pm. They do lots of tests prior to the op.

Hi Bertie .. what a mix up, good job you checked over letter carefully.
Wow things have changed!! When I had my THR 13 years ago - you had to go into hospital the day before surgery. You had to be nil by mouth from midnight and the nurses brought round tea and toast just before midnight for us so we wouldn't feel so hungry the next day ...
