Hi everyone
My feet are getting so bad with arther now that, besides being so painful, I have only one pair of shoes that I can fit (squeeze) onto my feet. :?
any tips on how to soothe sore feet?
and....
What kind of shoes do you wear? and where did you get them?
thanks,
Iris x

thanks Pols and delboy,
It kinda took me by surprise realising that none of my shoes fit as I've been sticking to the one pair of boots for months now....although I knew my feet were getting worse
Decided to look out shoes this morn now that spring is here (at last) only to find that I can't wear any of them.... x
thanks for the suggestions peeps.......
(you're right delboy it will likely be costly but hopefully worth it!)

THANKS Toni that would be good....just saw you there xxx0 -

Hi Iris,
Oh flower feet hurt don't they? I soak mine in either hot salt water if there is any broken skin or if not I use a concoction of white oils and hot water and for me it seems to help..... It may not be a good idea though if you have sensitive feet.
Shoes just hurt! Trainers are sometimes ok depending on the shape and angle of the souls but I live in frankenstein's boots now a days.... ( Del I so agree CAT boots are heaven ) Mine are full safety ones, not very fetching but act like splints us they are 50% metal and my cramp can't beat that! Will go look at Toni's bumped thread though cus well the boots and the Hunters are not so good for going out Luv and a ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Clarks! Clarks shoes everytime. You can get some really quite trendy ones in there, they are soft, flat and they do different width's. I'm quite a young trendy girl (no one can believe I have arthur when I tell them) I wear great clothes and everyone comments on my shoes!! Take a trip - you may be surprised. xx0

I'm not really a shoe person, but have been planning ahead for my hip op. Thursday I went into well known shoe store and bought the most lovely pair of flat hush puppy sandles, they're heaven, like walking on air. They cost a packet, far more than I would normally pay, but well worth it. Just hope we have a nice summer so I can wear them. :? (if not, I'll wear them round the house).0

kerry,
I think you should become my personal shopper/ dresser sounds like you know a lot about clothes as well as shoes......I'm not very good at being 'trendy' and could do with a make over!
thanks all!

Hi Iris
I do not suffer with my feet especially (just in other places ) but I do have very wide feet and on one foot a bunion. I also take a large size. Over the past few years, purely for comfort all round, when on my feet, which is a lot, I wear MBTs (not the sandals) and Crocs. I have other shoes to wear when going out and trying to look more "stylish" but cannot wait to get back into the Crocs or MBT's. I have worn my MBT's so much that I had to send them away to be re-soled, end of last year, which is well worth doing if you have a pair but was a little lost without them, to say the least but it only took one week, door to door.
I hope you find something suitable soon,
Luv

I have Cushion-Walk shoes with insoles in which help alot. I have had a ultrasound foot scan which shows up Morton's neuroma. i am finding it difficult to find summer shoes as I soon get problems with backless types. Have you tried insloes? I also have anti-inflam gel which can help with the burning feeling. Good hunting, I x0

Kat Maconie shoes! They are brilliant - really attractive, fashionable and very comfy. I think you can get them at John Lewis. They are pricey but worth it. I also like MBTs and fitflops

Hi Iris
In summer I ware fly flots, the ones with Velcro so you can adjust them throughout the day , they are also cushioned, the wide fitting paver shoes are good for all year.

FITFLOPS! I have a silver pair, (the basic ones) then bought a black pair for work and then got a pair of the short boots (mukluk) for Christmas, these are all I wear along with my trainers for a lot of walking etc. I am in my thirties and suffer a lot with my feet, pain underneath and my toes have separated quite a bit and FITFLOPS are heaven!! Worth every penny, I guess they are along the same lines as MBT's but not quite as expensive and specialised but there are loads of different styles and colours now.0

Hi
I have a pair of Ecco f shoes which I bought about 5 years ago and they are incredibly comfortable (but expensive). The shoes are flat - I can't wear anything with a heel. They have a velcro strap which means you can adjust them if your feet swell.
Since my TKR one foot seems to be always swollen so these have been brilliant. They have cushioned soles.
I sometimes put an ice pack on my feet when they swell up. You could try soaking them in a warm bowl with your favourite bath lotion on bath salts. A nice soak and then get your someone to massage some nice cream into your feet for you!! Elevate your feet and relax.
Regards

Hi Iris, I have problems with shoes too ... never occurred to me that others did too!!! Durr!! Shall be following up the leads on this and young persons forum.
I have succumbed to comfort for years. I like soft, bendy soled, cushioned shoes - casual looking and not too old-fogey.
I had some great trainer-shoes from Next, wished I'd bought several pairs because I wore them out and haven't found decent replacements. I wear a heel raise in the left shoe and a kind-of arch support in the right - and all the shoes/trainers I have recently tried don't seem to work with the arch support thingy... If I alter my gait even ever so slightly my hip plays up worse than ever.
Hope you find some decent ones that are comfy and you like the look of.
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Elna, , Ironic Kit , Barbara , Sherry , Sharmaine and Speedalong
Thanks SO much for answering my post....you've given me lots to think about with the types of shoes and why you've chosen certain ones.
Also some of the suggestions for relieving the pain, are going to be well worth me trying...I really appreciate it . thanks. x
I have had memory foam insoles but I think I've gone beyond them now....but maybe in combination might still work so not binning that idea yet :!:
I'll look up the various types on the net and see where the nearest stockists are....then fingers crossed I'll be able to get some that suit me. thanks again! Iris x0
