    Hi Berty,

They must have different sizes but also as massed produced there must be a lot of one size fits all  Its a good question though and I wondering now as well. Cris x

I was told that during surgery the surgeon takes various measurements of limb length and hip rotation before choosing the best implant for each patient... he did a perfect job with mine...

    Hi Bertyboy,

I have no idea  But I have two of them and they are working ok. Mine are cemented in, I know that, because some surgeons don't do that. A question to ask when you see your consultant perhaps? I looked at the papers I brought home both times on my discharge and I was given a record of prothesis. I know it is a Depuy type and Size 4 is typed onto one of the labels stuck onto the sheet of paper along with other labels. One label this time says Oval Dome Patella 3-Peg 32mm and the one I had done 2 years ago said the same but with the size 35mm!

Let us know if you find out. There must be different sizes I would have thought. I will try to remember to ask my surgeon but I don't see him for 6 months. :)

By the way it is not a silly, thought but a sensible one. Pity I did not think to ask!!

    Luv
    Elna x

    hi bertyboy, and everyone else.
What a great question, I was wondering that about hips as well.
When I went to see surgeon, he was explaining stuff (most of which I didnt really understand), but he mentioned something about my cup size :? He estimated that looking at the x-rays I was a small cup! (I had my coat done up as well)

    Hi Everyone
I read a couple of years ago , that all knee replacements were made the same, till a surgeon realised that a femail knee was slightly different.
So he came up with a better fitting one.
I will google it to check.
