private messages can they be blocked?

I have just tried to pm someone and error and no such user exists keeps coming up. Well I know they do exist and i triple checked their spelling so can some people block pms if they choose?
Its not intentional and I am not suggesting that but as the person hasnt been on the forum for ages and i have just spotted them i wanted to see how they were.

    There can be some people overdoing the pms or upsetting someone...there was some probs last year although I never found out who?what?why?

    I dont know why I cant contact them!I thought they might have asked mods

    Hi Elizabeth

    I had a similar prob once because someone had a hyphen in their username which was almost not visible because of the blue underline on the forum.
    Instead of typing the name I clicked on their name on their last post and went to send a message from their profile which revealed the hyphen and did work. I hope this is making sense and may help :?
    If there is nothing on their profile page perhaps they have changed username?
    Guess you could ask on the tech forum if you haven't already.

    hi i always send pm by going in the profile and clicking on link then am sure of correct spelling, also have you delete some of your inbox and outbox etc to free up space

    That's good Elizabeth that you got them and they are ok.

    I do pm off their name from an old post too - if I am in doubt.

    See how worried it makes us when there is upset on the forums :(

    Never knew you could click on username elsewhere.Another question...if your box is full(Rehab do not comment!!!)do you have to delete old PMs to make room?

    Neighbours very quiet since I posted! So It is possible.Maybe they read the forum.Lol.

    Tis ok they automatically delete from the last up as they need to. My box is usually full but its just an automatic process........

    I got to say i click on user names if its one not in the box cus that way I don't have to worry I spelt it wrong :oops: :lol::lol::lol: Hope your ok? ((( ))) Cris xx

    I never knew that so have been deleting oldish messages.
    I am now able to PM person so it must have been a temporary blip!!!!
