How many of you like me are amazed at how one sore finger can disable you. It started Saturday afternoon felt fleshy part of left thumb and index finger tightening. 10 minutes later that was it finger swollen no movement just tremendous pain going through the whole of the left hand. That was it at the mercy of hubby again to do things for me ( which I hate and feel cant describe what I feel but sure you can guess) So all day Sunday hand still painful and unmovable without pain. Today hand not so bad but finger still swollen and sore. It does not matter what joint RA affects it just totally ruins all the good work that you try to do. My right hand at the moment has the same tingly feeling and I'm praying thats not going the same way otherwise I will scream I want to be normal whatever normal is before I had this RA.

Have to take my frustration out on somebody might as well be my RA family as you wont get hump. Ha Ha

Hi, A few weeks back I spent a night without much sleep as my finger kept hurting, it does sound silly after the event, but its definatlly not funny when its hurting!

    Hi Issy

No we wont get the hump :)

Have you got any splints you can put on?? That might help a bit so you dont bump it or accidentally try to use it?

Hope it feels a good bit better soon.

    Love

    Toni xx

Couldnt put splint or my RA gloves on at all Saturday or Sunday just the thought of going near the finger gave me the frights. I have flare ups all the time its just funny how each one is different. I found the swelling and heat radiation was unbelievable. I have managed to put my RA gloves on today but still to painful for splint at mo.

    Lotsa Luv

PS Knew you wouldnt get the hump your used to me moaning HA HA

    hi issy,

how long does your flare normally last, mines a day or two then things calm down.

my finger was exactly the same last weekend, i just felt like crying - i pretty much couldn't do anything with it. i found though that a physio gel pack (Ice cold) relieved the pain, sat with it on all saturday night then went to bed, rested it and that combined with a load of painkillers seemed to do the trick for me.

    ((((hugs))))

To be truthful the flare is as unpredictable as is which joint it is going to attack. To be honest I was such a coward that I didnt want anything on it or if my hubby commented then I would bawl him out (Bless him lucky he loves me or I would be in big trouble) I like you normally 2-3 days for small joints and anything up to 4 weeks larger joints. I think thats due to the extra pain relief kicking in. I have noticed that a few of us have had hand or finger issues the past 2 weeks SPOOKY or what
