I've applied for DLA...after much prodding by GP and family.....
I got local 'rights' charity to help me fill in the form.....
They were brilliant..

Anyway......
Very promptly I got a letter confirming receipt of my form...

A week later I got another letter...........

It had my name........

and then the following....

About the claim for Disability Living Allowance..

We are sorry we cannot.........and then my heart sunk......

It then continued........give you a decision on the new claim for Disability Allowance...

We are all stressed out enough.....without negatives....

Would it not have been as easy to say "We are waiting for a report from you GP before we can make a decision"??

Just a bit of thought and consideration..

I know its only a small thing......or is it just me???

How did the letter continue Rob? Did they say that they will consider your application?

It said "This is because we have requested a report from your GP".

    So it wasn't a no.................

I got a phone call from my GP just now......

GP wants to see me next week........so she can get an update on my condition, to make sure she can give me, and I quote her "The most positive support for my application".

She has been brilliant in the last 18 months and the troubles I've been through..

Just have to wait and see............Not holding my breath though..

Hopefully your doctors report will be enough for them to award you DLA.

    Hi Rob,

letters from bureaucrats are the worst....seems they cannot think on how their letters read or the impact they have.

Let's hope that after this knee wobbling start that they deal with your application quickly and you get the support you need via dla. good luck ! Iris x

hi reading this i just had the same letter and mine said the same, i wonder if the doctor will want to see me as well, i'm the sort of person who just gets on with it and dont complain, maybe i should thats the thing but i think we all could do with someone who would help us with complaning as i'm in the process of complaining about my son school especting a phone call from mediation in the morning.

You ain't going to believe this.......but that what I was about to say...........NOT

Rob, how nice to see you again.....missed you.

I once had a letter from Occupational Health at work......offering me an appointment to discuss my situation and in the following paragraph telling me that I would be forced to take up the offer..........I lost my rag just a tad! Eventually they had to change their letter!

The exchange of views was somewhat acrimonious.......

    Hi Rob,
I received the EXACT same letter today, but also in a different envelope was another letter stating that Dr blah blah (not their real name obviously  ) will be visiting me this thursday to do an assessment at 11.00am. Not looking forward to it, and seriously thinking of cancelling.
I hope all goes well for you and you get awarded what you deserve, keep us informed.

I wonder why in my case they want my GP input.....
and in your case they just send a stranger around to do an assessment......

    What is the criteria????

I've just sent an E-mail to Disability Benefits Helpline regarding 'our' concerns over this badly worded document...

Be interesting if I get a reply........

    I've laid it on a bit thick.......but it is a genuine issue/concern.

I've never done a 'grumpy' complaint before......you lot are such a bad influence.....

    I'll keep you all posted....
