well the good news is i havent got diabetes, but still wonder why i am thirsty all of the time, could it be the tablets im on? i have suplha, hydrochloric (SP?)

bad news is they cant do anything at all for my hip until the pain it too much and the only thing they can do is a full replacement.

he showed me how badly the hip can move and that really shocked me, also i cannot hold myself up on just my right leg
all came as a complete shock to me.

he said he doesnt know how long i can last with the pain, thats up to me and it might just break altogether  such fun!!!

he gave me a steroid injection in to the tendon, but that didnt help at all. grrrrrrrr.

    Hi Gemma,
good news about not having diabetes. Must have been a shock about the hip though.

All I can say is, you will know when you need it done ... been there twice. Both times consultant said I would need an op, both times didn't want it and both times got to a point when I wanted the op and now!!! The rubbish bit is, you suddenly come to the point where enough is enough and then you have to wait for a date ...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

i had the steroid injection on thursday last week, but havent seen any sign of improvment, just have a bruise :(

should i ring the consultants receptionist and let her know? and how do i go about getting a crutch? i feel sometimes i wobble all over the place.

Hi, I had steriod injections into my wrists and when they did them they warned me that it may take 2 to 3 weeks to feel the full benefit. It was coming up to 3 weeks and nothing seemed to be happening, then I noticed that the pain and tingling was a lot less. I have carpel tunnel syndrome as well as oa.

I'm glad you haven't got diabetes, I don't know what else could cause the dry mouth, but the only other thing is the medication you are on. I'm no expert though!

    Hi Gemma

The crutch - I think you probably need to ask teh GP to refre you to physio or the rheumy so you get the right ones(s).

An unofficial way to get crutches is too look outside the plaster room next time you are at the hospital ... but you do need them measured properly ...

(This is how I got mine years ago - on the advice of my physio!! They had no elbow crutches left in physio and only the underarm ones which were no good .. so I followed her advice and "found" some ... hung on to them ever since..)
