Just had a read, 10,000 a week being re- assessed, good grief, no wonder they cannot look you in the eye, with targets like that to meet.XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Hi, I heard it on the early news, at least its being talked about now. I was explaining it to my sister about it and she couldn't understand it all, shes in good company!0

Thanks livinglegend for link - I missed it on the news. I'm lucky that I can still work - but still like to stay informed ...
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi
It's rather a shame that we couldn't reply to this statement online.
I honestly think that the government don't "rate" arthritis as being worthy of these benefits. We lose our mobility as a result and suffer long term because of it.
Thanks for pointing it out to us Jenzie.
I hope you are feeling better today.

Im relived they are finally talking about it openly loads havent a clue what is happening to us and explaining to people is emotionaly draining and painful.
I just wish they would mention us. I spoke to day to a nras help line person about my case. She said the medical people say ra because of the new treatments is getting easier to manage so they wont take my ra a seriously as once was. but i have other factors and she said i had a more unusual case and she hoped that i would get some help because of these.
I dont agree nobody knows the long term effects of these drugs and i certainly dont think they can assume we can manage it better. I certainly carnt ! :x
thanks for the bbc link and thanks jenzi fo doing this topic. I just hope something is done from joanneJoanne0 -
Hi
The report is available on the CAB website, just had a quick look , arthritis charities don't seem to have involved unless I missed it. We have to keep the pressure on so that they change it so that when you are unable to work you are not made out to be a fraud by someone who does not read the information that has taken you ages to complile, puts false statements on the form. We are people not numbers. Sorry this subject makes me so mad. I have spoken to my MP and Assembly Member about my battle with ESA and they agree that the system makes no allowances for illnesses that vary from day to day. Fay0 -
Its good its being talked about, lets hope the problem is kept in the media. The variable condition part of arthritis really isnt taken into consideration. My doctor wrote I had good upper limb movement, yes I did on that day, but certainly dont on other days, some days cant brush my hair, cant even get tablets out of my packet. When I challenged them about other areas of the report and said my O T physio, GP, Consultant would disagree - Athos healthcare had a very arrogant answer "Well our doctors are disability experts".

LOL and ditto, although not at retirement age, I was retired early, very early, due to chronic ill health, I would go armed to the teeth as well. 8)XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
well, i have my 2nd assessment medical tomorrow, had one in mid-Dec and was told i wouldnt need to be seen for 6 months as i could barely walk, when i received the letter saying i needed a 2nd medical, i rang them up and asked why and was told everyone needs 2.... i havnt even had my 6 week post op check-up done by my orth surgeon yet, so it will be interesting to see if they regard me as ready to go back to work before he does !!!! this whole system is laughable.
well, i will let you know how it goes tomorrow, think of me at 09.20 !!!

I will certainly think of you in the morning, hoping that things go ok for you. As you say, it is laughable, the whole process, putting those in genuine need, through unecessary examinations and stress.

I've had a look at the CAB report and Arthritis Care isn't mentioned. Anyone know what the official stance of AC is?
I'm going for my tribunal in June (although they are running behind so it might be later, surprise, surprise!). Do you know I've actually grown an entire human being since applying for the silly thing!!0 -
I sent off my ICB review forms a couple of months ago, there was not enough room on the paper for list of meds, never mind the medical problems, haven't heard anything back, as yet. You wait, there will be a letter in the morning, now I have said that......
I don't know what the stance is on AC, will try and find out......
