Hi

people at work keep telling me i should claim for dla but i'm not sure :?:
I went back to work 3weeks ago but have asked occ nurse if i could do 4 days a week on a temporary basis as i'm finding it tiring and some days more painful by the end of the day, she has agreed for 4-6 weeks. I am not sure about claiming because i am walking about at the moment at work, I work in a college, I keep getting told exercise is good so i make my self walk around as much as i can, i have OA in my lumbar spine and top of my spine, i find the top of my spine gets more painful when walking even though some days my lower spine is not too bad :? I answered questions on the gov.uk site to see if i was eligible, i answered yes to all questions apart from the last one which asked " have you got 100% blindness or 80% deafness?" i ticked no, it then said i am therefore not eligible to claim  I am now confused????
sorry for going on folks

take care marg x

    Hi Marj

Perhaps you could take a look at the form again on the gov website.

I think maybe you read question 11 wrong.

It says Do you think you will need help for at least 6 months.
If you have ticked Yes then it says 'Fill in the form'
If you have ticked No, then it says Go to Q 12

Question 12 is the bit that asks about mental health, dyalasis or sight and hearing probs and if you dont have any of those then it tells you you wont get DLA.

So if the 6 month thing applies to yourself you could go ahead and fill out a form.

Hope that is clearer to you.
By the way whether you are working or not you can apply for DLA.

If you answered 'Yes' to Questions 8 or 11 then you should make a claim. As others have said, fill in the form for your worst day and ask CAB for help.

The questionnaire is at: http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@disabled/documents/digitalasset/dg_181620.pdf for anyone who has trouble finding it.
