Isn't democracy a wonderful system, it's just a pity we arn't allwed to have it here, all we get are the same 3 stooges, well only two really red or blue and in reality it's just a big club designed to keep them in clover and us lot poor, and over worked and or stressed or all 3 at once shock doctrine courtesy of uncle Sam and the free market posse.
Right that's me rant over, now I shall sit back and expect a knock on the door!.

Do you not like election time then, Mel? I find it all highly amusing - it's OK if you don't take any of them seriously :-)

I like thinking up more and more absured excuses as to why I don't want to vote for the party who's knocking on the door: "I'm sorry, you need to speak to a responsible adult and there's no one here at present" etc.

I have the most fun when I pretend I don't speak English and ask them to get me a translator - works very well if you look foreign, obviously (and speak another language) :-)

I think C. S. Lewis put our, so called, democracy in it's place.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

    (And for their own stupidity).

But my favourite is: Democracy is a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses.
    Henry Louis Mencken

"A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen."

I'm going to the Houses of Parliament on Friday, so I will pass on your thoughts :!: :D

I don’t think much of elections it’s only a choice between red or blue and the way things are in this country it’s as about as effective as changing the captain on the Titanic post iceberg strike, the flippin ship is still sinking!.

Once on hols in Spain or somewhere Spanish! i was sick of touts following us so pretended not to speak or understand English then tout starting going through loads of languages whilst following us - hubbie almost decided to take things into own hands though!! - how useful it would have been to speak Welsh as i am sure he wouldnt have known that too.

    p.s. theyre all the same.

In this case the captain who drove the ship of state into the iceberg wants you to re-elect him and his crew so that he can pilot the sinking ship once again .

That is a very valid point!.

Sounds good to me but it is a pity that all our comedians are actually in the government!

The House of Commons is the longest running farce in the West End.
