Hi, what type of exercise do you take, if any exercise is possible?
Personally, I make sure I take regular walks and also some occasional gentle cycling on an exercise bike, not the road. There are amny times when I don't want to walk but I try my best to always make some kind of effort.

:-)

Stretching exercises, about 20 - 25 minutes, 15 minutes (hula) hooping, 10 minutes on the exercise bike, walking, riding my bicycle. Today I mowed the lawns, with a hand mower, cut the edges with shears, drastically pruned 2 shrubs and filled a whole big wheelie bin with the branches etc. Swept up, hoovered the house as hubby has started work on the hall and landing so bits and dust everywhere. Exhausted with an achy knee, shoulder, neck and hands but happy. :D

Good for you for walking every day even when you do not always feel like it. Me too, sometimes the exercising lark is a struggle but I always feel it to be an achievement when I have done them. :D I have been doing this regime or similar for years and I am sure it has helped greatly to keep me mobile.

    Take care,

    Luv

Hi - walking the dogs nearly every day - depends on how I feel on how far and how long!!! wish I could do a lot more - but not able to - if I do too much then body complains soon after!!!! did do a lot of staining wood a while back, that wasnt too bad, but tried painting and that was no good!!!

walking my dogs twice a day when the knees/ feet allow ( cheat a bit as I drive to the park first before letting the dogs run loose)

Tai chi ......where I used to live I attended a weekly group so I am now looking for a local group as I really miss the company!. Tai chi is gentle exercise but stretches out many more muscles than you think!

    used to cycle...but can't now. :(

does lifting and drinking a cup of tea 7 times a day count?

Hi, my level of exercise has dropped as my hip as has got worse ... I am on the "urgent list" for a resurface/replacement. I am struggling a lot more.

Up until recently I did plenty of walking, swimming and my job is very active. Now I'm doing very short walks (with a stick,) swimming and physio...

In the past, I have done yoga, Tai chi, aqua gym, bike riding ...

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

All I'm doing at the minute is the exercises I've been given to do after THR {Sometimes }.....I think I should be able to do more and try to...especially over the bank holiday weekend.....then discover I'm really suffering for it and the operated hip is sore and the rest of me is achey....I then get frustrated.....I dont know what happened to my mantra of "pace yourself" that I had before my op...that seems to have gone out the window

Hi Hileena, impatience is natural - we put up with the joint for as long as we can bear, then we wait for the op and then we wait for our 6 week check ... good things come to those that wait!! (I keep telling myself!!) You are doing brilliantly - I have followed your posts with interest and you have made me dread my next op less - but do listen to your body, don't set yourself back.

I go on the exercise bike for 20 mins per day (just over 4 miles) Do 50 sit-ups on the bed for my stomach and back muscles 20 stand-ups from a dining room chair A series of exercises given to me, for knee strength, from physio I miss out the above if I go for a walk Pool exercises once a week

If I don't do these regularly my already poor mobility decreases and the muscle strength gained helps tremendously with joint pain.

Please note all my exercises were given to me by a trained physiotherapist .....I'd advise you not to do anything rash or new unless you've checked it out with your GP or Rheumy first.

    Hi Kaiser,

I go to a jazzercise class twice a week - this involves stretching, toning and aerobic exercise and you can do either high or low impact - use the stairs at work rather than the lift, ,gardening and I'm planning to buy a bike in a couple of weeks. Lots of cycle paths near me as I'm not keen to go on the busy main roads!!

I also have rabbits that need cleaned out and I help at a rabbit rescue - always feel good when I've had some outdoor exercise.

Swimming is definitely my fav, walking my worst, gardening is one of those distracting exercises and it always grows despite what I do to it!

This work in the garden is a love/hate relationship, I hate gardening but can't bear to see work undone, just as long as there is an mechanical tool to do it, it will get done.....sooner or later.

    8) Its a grin, honest!
