hi - once again need some answers from you if possible!! i am having bad times in the mornings - waking up early feeling not well at all!! pain not agonizing, but its there and when i move it is painful, i feel hot, not hot flushes but hot?? sometimes it feels like flu??? I have cut down my methx as fed up with side effects - i am losing my weekends because of side effects!! even with antisickness tablets!! so have cut injec down to 10ml? but am worried now that this is not enough? the bad mornings have been there for a while though!! but when I dont have to work, i am not getting up till about 10am!! i am sat in my bed now - have just taken co-codomols so waiting for them to kick in!!! but am feeling upset by the fact that mornings are so hard and not sure what to do? any advice from you lovely lot? am thinking about asking to go back on tramadol as can take other pain killers with those so may get more relieve? have started to take pain killers when i wake up in early hours - this helps me to go back to sleep! but am up to 8 a day with these so find that i cant take any in the evening!!

hope this is making sense??  is this the way it is going to be? i do find it hard to accept!!:cry:

Arthritis is usually worse in a morning as we stiffen up overnight and then have to get our joints flexing again.

I often don't get up any day until 11:00. Do you really need to get up before 10am on your days off? Lie in bed, rest and enjoy it.

    Hi Louise
I presume from what you said that you are a RA sufferer with the meds you take. I am a OA sufferer and I take Tramadol, Paracetamol and during a flare up (like now) Naproxen. I just lately have been feeling really rough in a morning today being the worst that I have felt and for a longer period, when I get out of bed I feel as thougn I am getting flu my bones tingle all over my body and I am in a lot of pain and I generally feel unwell.
Normally I take my tablets on waking as I now keep them on my bedside table, I was wondering if possibly I am getting addicted to the medication and first thing in a morning is a sort of withdrawal symptom i.e getting the shakes till I get my nect fix. I dont know, but I would be very interested to find out if any other people have any such symptoms.

    Hi Denise

I have Psoratic Arthritus, but the feelings you are saying you get sounds a lot like the way I feel, but I do wonder if its the meds??? I have now got an appointment with the rhummy nurse next friday, so hoping to get some answers then!!

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

    Hi Louise,

Really sounds as though you need a complete review of arther activity and your meds so that rheummy can decide what needs adjusting, changing or stopping!

My advice would be to write down all the symptoms...even keep a daily diary between now and when you see rheummy nurse next week...so that if there is any pattern to how and what you are feeling & experiencing it will become obvious.
That way rheummy will be able to get a clearer picture of what arther activity is like and what the meds are/ are not doing to help alleviate the symptoms and pain.

I've got PA too and never found tinkering around the edges of my prescribed meds helps...I usually just get into a muddle..and if you cut back on meds without medical advice you may run the risk of reducing their effectiveness and causing more arther symptoms?

talk it all through with the rheummy nurse next week and if necessary ask her to either speak to the rheummy doc or make an appointment with him......

    Hi,
I'm stiff in the mornings too. I don't sleep well either. I fall asleep ok but then awake after 2 to 4 hours in pain and stiff and struggle to fall asleep again ... when it is time to get up for work - I could just happily nod off again. However have to say on work mornings when I get up early I'm less stiff than weekends and school hols when I can't resist lying in for longer. I have to say the longer I lie the stiffer I am, even though due to lack of sleep I long to lie in.

Does sound like your meds need sorting/reviewing ... good luck.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

I sympathise with all you say regarding mornings. One thing I would like to ask - some of you say you take meds. on waking. I am nervous of doing that - always wait till I have had a little breakfast otherwise I feel sick (particularly with tramadol). I have to go down the stairs on my backside and back up on all fours for first couple of trips. Still, I have a long awaited Rheumy appt. on Momday - heres hoping they will give me something wonderful!!!
Hope you all have a good week.

    Hi Louise

Just read your post - sorry you're having bad mornings. My joints are stiff and sore every morning - I think this is normal with OA and RA sufferers. Getting out of bed is hard too - I'm so lethargic. It's a good job I don't work!:lol: I have OA so can't comment on why you should feel so hot but I'm sure someone will get back to you.

Have you spoken to your doctor? I do hope you feel better soon.

    Take care now.
