Inflammatory arthritis what is it?

Could anyone shed some light on what inflammatory arthritis actually is.Ive googled it and keep getting different descriptions.This forum seems to be only place where people can find accurate descriptions,so any info would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

    Well I'm not a medical professional but as I understand it, inflammatory arthritis is a broad term which refers to swelling or inflammation of the joint capsule. It tends to be caused by an auto-immune condition, like RA or PsA and is different to the kind of arthritis caused by mechanical arthritis like OA - where the bone is worn down by friction etc. Confusingly OA can cause inflammation and inflammatory arthritis can lead to mechanical arthritis but the difference is the root cause.

    why do people with oa have to have tabs that are
    for inflamation i'm on diclofenac.

    hi dachsund, I have OA in my wrist and I'm on Naproxen which are also an anti-inflammatory. I know its meant to be RA which is inflamation (sorry if this is wrong :? ) but I think even with osteo arthritis you can have inflamation too. If diclofenac work for you then great, ours is not to question why lol, but if not then dont suffer in silence, go back to your gp and nag. Thats what I need to do as my tablets aren't working anymore.
