    YES!!!

My friend said her mum used to swear by it so I tried it. Strapped a cabbage leaf to my knee overnight and by morning my knee was the smallest it had been in ages.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi, I've not heard of it, but personally that's the best use I've ever heard for cabbage!!! :x I blame too many school dinners!

Seriously, it might be putting something cold and with its own natural juices to keep it feeling cold next to the skin that helps as well as maybe some natural herbal medicine in the plant? It won't hurt you so give it a go! Love Sue

is a well known, long term remedy for mastitis in women.
have bandaged them after blanching with a loose weave bandage on to my horses fetlock with great results!

I'll try this on my ankle tonight and let you know. Pity, threw two huge outside leaves in the bin yesterday.

Hi, I've just asked my husband, who is a plant biochemist, or rather, was, as he now works in schools. He said that Cabbage would work as it contains things that help pain and swelling such as mustard oil. Seems that our Granny's did know something!

    Hi,

Oh cabbage I was told to use it once, I didn't but deep down I am with Sue on it not having much other use! Except maybe to raise lovely white flutter-bys that denote summer  Be honest I think I would rather lather my self in mustard.........:lol::lol::lol:

I have today bought some cabbage. So, tonight I,m going to give it a try. I have OA of the lower back, so will be a bit tricky to hold in place. I,ve read that it should be microwaved for about 15 secs, then put on the skin. This softens the leaf, and lets the healing properties flow out of the leaf. Well, Ive got an open mind on this one, but if it works then great :)

Good luck - let us know how it goes. I have read it is best on bony joints - knees, elbows etc ... but worth a try. After the success on my knee had thought about stuffing some down my knickers - to see if it helped my hip!!!

    Hi

I've never heard of cabbage! But may give it a go!! My grandmother used to rub her arthritic hands in a mixture of vinegar and garlic - it smelt vile!!!

    Really - no luck?

I'm surprised. Did you keep the leaf on all night?

Just goes to show different things work for different folks.

Let us know what you try nex.
