Hi All,

The title says less than I think actually but..... Been on mtx now for only 3 weeks, I have been so lucky as its not been too bad actually. I had a bad reaction to the sulfa and after that mtx is a breeze really so my starting point was kinda helpful to take it if that makes sense?

Right too early for the bones maybe BUT the crohn's is calming down a bit. Now that could just be a temporary thing but I also have a bit more energy (both the pa and the crohn's and my eyes have been in a mega flare for quite some time and shattered doesn't come close :lol::lol::lol: Zombie does either actually :lol::lol: ) So with that in mind I kinda thin its going to work! Bout time something did and thinking about it I haven't had pain behind the eye for at least 3 days now :D

There is just one slight thing, the folic acid makes me feel so sick, I actually was last week. Its could be the crohn's but I wonder how important is it?

Hope everyone is kinda ok and the sun manages to warm us all up...... got some fence mending to do if anyone is available please? Luv and ((( )))'s to all Cris x

Dear heavens, Cris, I hope your optimism is right! It's about time something turned in your favour!

Regarding the folic acid.............not sure what dose you are on, but could you split the tabs and take it half morning and half evening of the day you take them? I've done that successfuly with other tabs which have been giving me probs, not needed to try it with the folic, but it might be worth a try?

Hope things continue to get better for you....you need a respite soooo much.

    Hi Annie,

I have 4 the day after ad they really do make me feel extremely sick. I also find I am wished tuesday and wednesday any way (guess that is the mtx?) but I got a whole 5 hours uninterrupted sleep last night and for the crohn's that's very quiet :D I know its very early days but cus its digested in the gut the crohn's was going to be the first to gt the benefit...... I just so hope it has

Hey hows your flare? I really hope it didn't develop into a full blown rage?

he said he will pick you up on his way back with Val cus I just don't seem to have the strength for the pounder :lol::lol: ((( ))) xx

    Hi Cris

Glad to hear you have a bit of a let up at the mo.

I've been on MTX for about 10 yrs now with no
probs, but I do take Leflunomide as well along with it.
The folic acid is to help absorb the MTX
so far as I know, so yes its important to take it.

Hope it works well for you, I went down the Supha,
Hydroxochloroquine road before my present meds.

    Love Kath x

Cris, this sounds like a bit of good news, and let`s hope the improvement continues. If anyone deserves some respite, you do.

Make a phone call, and query the folic acid. Don`t just suffer, but DON`T have a Cris hissy fit, and chuck em away!!.....Much love.......Ange.

    Hi Cris
so far so good ahh! very glad to hear it :D
i agree with Lynn (Hi Lynn :D ) about the folic acid, 5mg a day should be ok, But check with nurse, i take mine 48 hours after mtx and then 5mg for 4 days, i see the folics as my good pills
I really do hope you will be good on the mtx you need abit of reliff from it all.
    Take care

    HI Cris,

glad you have some good news to report ..... and hoping that it lasts for you cos you so deserve it!

As for the folic acid ...... it is really important to take it, but like I have said before there are different thoughts on when it can be taken. I take 5mg 6 days a week (not the MTX day) which is the standard dose round here.

I always thought that it is the MTX that makes me feel sick ..... got me wondering now!

do get some advice before you change anything though.

    hugs

    Hi Kath,

Ah they did tell me what it did but I had switched y brain off by then   The sulfa, well it really set off a reaction and after that anything would be better :lol:

How you doing with your new hip now? Good I hope? ((( ))) Cris xx

    Hi Ange,

I do dummy spits not hissy ones :lol::lol::lol: Wasn't going to chuck em out.......... might have to do something though and it be the mtx..... I shall have to think and see if not taking them once will help before I would know for sure...... Hey you got your house guest yet? ((( ))) xx

    Hi Lynn,

Like the sound of it happening to you and Legs as well :D I do feel wished on Tuesday and wens but that's about all, except the folic acid thing, so I been so lucky eh? Now if works on the bones as well...... Tell you if it is that the crohn's has quietened for I shall never give them up no matter what :lol::lol: You ok there? ((( ))) xx

    Hi Jaspercat,

I never thought about anti emetics but think they would find it hard to believe the folic acid is making me feel sick when the mtx just makes me feel a bit queasy..... Have to see the new docs soon so will ask for some :D ((( ))) xx

    Hi Sharon,

Like the idea of split doses  Will run it past the nurse at the blood test this week..... I must make an appointment for that one eh?! Bubbles and ((( ))) xx

    Hi Elna,

Flower its so long since I felt remotely well its nice to have a bit of respite :D I actually think changing docs helped  Like a huge weight was lifted and I know I am just outside their area but they took me on so the in your face begging approach worked :lol: Hope you ok and got a bit of sun as well? Tis a bit cold in the wind but ow to see that long forgotten orb for so many days :D ((( ))) xx

    Hi Wonky,

I know you said its 2 days later the mtx gets you a bit? I feel wished as hell Tuesday and Wednesday, I take then Sunday, but feel really badly sick almost immediately I take the folic acid. I don't do too well on multivits actually, they can make me feel a bit sick as well so maybe I would be better splitting the dose..... will ask this week.

Hey again I want to thank you cus you made the mtx not at all frightening for me :D Is L.L still sunbathing? he is under lock and key as he has gone back into chase lodgers mode so he said he is coming to stay with you....... sorry :lol::lol: Hope your feeling ok? (((( )))) xx

    Hi Cris,
I think I mentioned in another thread of yours that folic acid makes me sick.I stopped taking it years ago.So i go it alone with the MTX.I seem okay on 15mg MTX not so sick, but now I have been increased to 20mg i have started the sick feeling again.
Glad it is working well for you.
    Regards
    Elizabeth

Only just catching up to see this one. So glad something is starting to work for you, we been worried to death. Did you say 5 hours sleep  for you that is brill. Hope you can catch up and that the crohns does behave and simmer down and the eyes do the job they were made for without too much aggro.
Sorry mtx and folic acid means little to me tho I am sadly learning it a way of life for so many of you on here who really have my sympathy and hugs.
Hope the fencing got started, seems I am too late to help now! Hope the lodgers improving, back with you old softy to care for them.
Fingers and toes crossed that this is the start of a better time for you Cris. (((( ))))

Hi Cris, great news that you are starting to feel much better!

Can't help with the folic acid, I'm afraid. I don't know which foods are rich (or fortified) with folic acid, but wonder if it might be easier to digest it naturally than in tablet form?

My 14-yr old was getting some lambing experience last week. Afterwards, I asked her if she still wanted to be a vet and she said 'Yes, but not a farm vet!'.

    Hi I

Sheeps behind you is good you know :D I have a huge soft spot for them all, though Rams can be a bit iffy  Mine are old now (all 10) and I used to freelance as a agricultural person, mostly relief milking and lambing, and then got some land, got some animals and then a conscience.........:lol::lol::lol: Became a veggie small holder with a lot of elderly follies kept cus they were just there and I got too fond of them :lol::lol::lol:

Mine are spoilt brats and have big heavy overcoats that I got to get off soon..... got the oa in the spine and neck as well as pa in the neck, wrists and elbows and who knows whats in the feet :lol: but shearing is hard...... think they will have the overgrown poodle look for a bit  They normally have very nice Zulu legs as well  :lol: You take care ((( ))) xx

    Hi Chris,

Second night the crohn's let me have some sleep :D I honestly think the mtx has got it by the throat now :D

I don't understand it enough to know if the bones will have less swelling in the joints and more movement but hope they do as I do have to get some work done and the sheep are gong to have to be in their summer frocks very soon...... Kinda dreading that one :lol:

Yep I did see hay money for a split second and then said bring them cus he said how bad they were...... Think there will be a foal in the next couple of days so its good the crohn's is quieter as I might have to be sleeping on a washing line as and when for a min...... Think she will be ok though as its going to be small and probably thin :x Sorry off on one again......

I still have to try eating proper food but might today cus Chris I am sure its working :D:D ((( ))) xx

    Hi Lois,

Oh lambing is so messy and nerve wracking :lol::lol: Mine never had then (well I wasn't likely to send them off anywhere  ) but had they I would have been worse than any worrying, pacing dad or gran :lol::lol:

I use 2 vets, one does small animals and the others large and quite a few vets only want to do the small but good on her for wanting to be one and well its a rally good and rewarding job. When she does her training, if she does go for it, she will do a lot of farm work and she might change her mind but its a callous industry and she may have the small only reinforced. I so wish her luck cus well Lois if I had gt enough A levels I would have been one..... maybe not good one but i would have loved to have been one :D

You look after your self and hope your doing ok? ((( ))) xx
