Is it a Flare?

It started last Wednesday with a blinding headache that I couldn't shift. Gradually my legs ached more and more even when doing nothing, was just about crying yesterday. I am also cold, wearing a big fleece at the mo. Plus, my gastric problems seem to be rearing their ugly head at the moment. I am so tired I could sleep for a year.

Sometimes I wonder if it's all in my head and I am really in pain??

What do you think?

    Dear Annebr

I wonder if you are 'hatching' a virus? Please give yourself some easy days - rest and sleep can work wonders, I find. Hope it passes over soon and doesn't turn into a full blown 'flare up'..

    Best wishes

    Thanks everyone,

Don't think it's a virus and the headache has gone. The tiredness and aches are still here though, although better that they were

If only I could curl up but I am back to work and it's the usual craziness and extra (unpaid) hours.

I go back to see my orthapedic consultant next week and I have my list typed up of questions. To be honest I am not sure how much I have benefited from the op.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Anne,

Sorry your still not feeling good. A ((( ))) and a hope you soon will. I kinda think it might be a flare..... either my pa ones or the IBD ones make me feel as if I am coming down with fl but I don't get flu and then feel drained and achy and more tired than tired says for ages. I really hope they will get the test all done and you get a diagnosis but my crohn's jumped to full flare when I came off the sulfa and its looks like the mtx is bringing it under control so maybe you have less symptoms showing cus indirectly its been held down by other meds? I find one usually upsets the others but this is the first time I have had the IBD, the pa and the eyes all flare simultaneously..... and I kinda hope the last.

When do you see the Gastro's again? Its takes for ever doesn't it? Really hope tomorrow i a better day for you and another ((( ))) Cris xx

Hello, Sorry you feel so unwell. I am a 'Headache Person', whatever the problem or illness, I get really bad headaches and migraine, so I understand how you must be feeling. I agree that it could be a virus of some sort, their seem to be lots around at the moment! :(

Take care, and I hope you soon feel a lot better!

    Love Sue :wink::wink:

Thanks again everyone, feeling a bit better today.

Cris, next gastic appt is July, they are the worst dept to try and get seen. As you know I didn't go for the capsule endoscopy as I had just started work & couldn't face the prep, you know what I mean, so back to the bottom of the list again. My gp had mentioned that it could be something else attacking my bowel differnt strains of auto immunes, inflammatory arthritis etc but will need to wait until I see rheumy to discuss. My weight has stablised now and I average around about 8stone or slightly under, size 6, which I suppose at 5' 8'' is quite light.

I do think all these things are linked arthritis, auto immune, gastric...but every consultant has their own specialist area.

Anyway, enough from me. thanks again for your support don't know what i would do without you.

    Hi Anne,

I am convinced mine are linked but they always say its not right they are..... Odd isn't it how there is never leases on between them all as well! I know the prep really hurts as well cus I got classic skips in the small intestine and the damaged/scared bits often hurt without that stuff

I wonder if in July you could ask what he/she thinks it is and see if they will treat it accordingly and see? I have now pretty much refused any more cameras......

I don't know what they think your is but Anne the bottom line seems to be its never just one thing. I was told IBD, IBS and Diverticulitis was there last time it flared. As you know its very stressful though and I don't think it was more then just crohn's (and thats only cus of the skips)

Are you already on a disease modifier drug? See if you are it will be controlling it to some degree and may make it harder for diagnosis so if I were you I would just ask what its likely to be and see if they can treat you accordingly and it might work...... you sort of get a diagnosis that way as well?

Flower I know how rough it makes you feel and how worn out and well sending you a ((((( ))))) and a hope they will get their act together soon. Luv and shed loads of hopes Cris xx

Cris, it's a nightmare isn't it. I have been told they are all probably linked but no-one looks at the big picture. As you know I have perncious anemia/b12 deficieny as well which is another indicator. The last time I asked I was told they can't rule out Chrons so far the invasive tests haven't shown anything but there is an area they can't get to. Plus I have high carprolectin? & inflammatory indicators which they are chasing.

it's funny that you mention your eyes as my last eye test showed bad detioration & I have to go back in June.

    It never ends does it?

    Hi Anne,

Now eyes and IBD are linked and one of the arthritisis are as well, I know its irritis for the eyes (I recently had it as well as the neuritis) but lie you they tell me I don't have the right kind....... Se flower that's where the capsule would help. I still think its an idea to just ask them to try some of the crohn's meds and see if it works. 8 stone at your height Anne you need to get it sorted and leaving you another ((((( ))))) and well the 'flare' you described for me goes hand in hand with the crohn's. You take care and please re-think about the capsule cus it could really help you. Luv Cris xx
