Hi all, Just thought I would give you all an update. Good news today, saw my surgeon, who after sending me for another xray, told me the hip most definetley wasnt disclocated! And I saw the xray :) Cant get my head round this; Ive had 2 weeks of worry, not doing much etc, in case I made it any worse. It appears to be that my local hospital have somehow misdiagnosed it. My surgeon is sending for the original xray to see what made them conclude it was disclocated.

To be honest, I have been walking about the house ok, no pain etc, so was wondering myself what could be wrong. I think maybe a touch of overdoing the swimming and walking  Its a big Phew from me tonight, made me appreciate my lovely new hip

Hope I havent panicked anyone whose having/just had a THR!
Thanks for listening jk

 Sounds like a bit of a b*lls up doesn't it and it is most unfair that you had to worry unnecesarily, as anyone would, but thank goodness your surgeon is on the case, has assured you it is ok and is taking it further to see why your local hospital thought otherwise.
I am sure you have not panicked anyone regarding hip replacements.

You are REALLY gonna appreciate your new hip even more now and be the best of friends.

So relieved it has all turned out well for you :D

    Hi
Thank goodness for that, I was so worried about you, thinking you might have to have another op on top of what you have gone through.
You take it easy , I hope the consultant give the hospital what for.

    Hi JK,

I am really pleased for you there :D Better they mistook it than it was dislocated and try not to do quite so much to it for a bit

Hi, that is good news. I wonder if it clicked back in or whether it was a misdiagnosis?! Is your surgeon going to get back to you to let you know? You could understand why that would be what they would suspect - but the x-ray should have confirmed the suspicion one way or another.

Must be relief. At least the enforced rest has paid off you are virtually pain free again.

    Keep us update.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi

Really pleased to hear this. I had read your other messages and wondered how you were getting on.. I am also having a THR in about 3 weeks time and my big fear is dislocating it!!

    Best wishes

    How strange.
I was told by a physio if you dislocate your hip you would certainly know about it .

    Hi jk
Thats great news I am so pleased for you, typical of a hospital to get it sooo wrong, I once worked with deaf people and this little old lady fell over and hurt her arm we took her to hospital had a x ray they told her she was ok, a week later they rang us to tell us that she had broken her arm and that the doctor who had read the x ray had missed it and would we take her back to get it plastered.

Anyway once again great news for you, I go in to have my THR tomorrow.

    Take care.
