Hi

Just for information..

Have just read on the Arthritis Research Uk website that there is a promising new drug undergoing clinical trials which could 'switch off' RA.. It works in a different way to existing available drugs.

Could be available for general use in 8-10 years (cutting it a bit fine for me then! but hopefully will help younger sufferers)..

I'm always looking/hoping for the 'miracle cure.'!!!

Best wishes

Marion

I actually wish there would be more information available on what's being researched/developed. I know most of these will fail in trials, but it's interesting to read about research and to know that there are people trying to come up with new treatments.

Of course, sensationalist headlines like 'cure within sight' etc aren't very helpful!

    Hi Caprica

I am always checking the Arthritis Research UK website as they give a brief update of arthritis research taking place all over the world - and, usefully, at the end, they always give a little comment about whether they think the research is going to be useful or not ... (sorry - I can't seem to 'cut and paste' their web link)

I have just seen on their website however, that there is some research going on about links between Vitamin D deficiency and Rheumatoid Arthritis ... that interests me, as a few months ago I was told I was deficient in Vitamin D!

    Best wishes

It's a good news and bad news scenario again isn't it..

I know exactly what you mean delboy...

I 'happened upon' some really promising research in the Lancet about a biologic specifically for PA (which is as rare as hens teeth as biologics are not available to treat PA.)

only to find that it's not approved in the UK. bah humbug

but we have to keep looking....and hoping
