Hello everyone.

My knees are really asking to be chopped off. I get alfull shotting pains up my legs starting in my knees and then up to my leg and the pain stops me in m tracks.
Is this normal for OA .

Also feeling so drained and have had a head cold for over a month now .. cant hear out my right ear . ( booked in for a syringe)
Just feel so low and cant seem to shake it atm.

Anyways wont moan no and no... Hope everyone is feeling well and some what pain free.
Alli x

You aren't moaning, just describing your symptoms!

being in pain definitely makes me feel exhausted. When arther is at its worst it makes performing normal everyday tasks feel as hard as climbing a mountain. Also if pain is stopping you sleeping/ interferring with the quality of your sleep that won't be helping either.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Rosyred

As a fellow sufferer of OA in both knees plus a few other places I sympathise. Are you taking your medication? I have recently had a TKR but prior to this was in a wheelchair. My knees would lock and I would get pain and discomfort the whole length of my leg as well as my back and bum.

I would suggest you (a) rest (b) make an appointment to see your GP. You may need to have your meds reveiwed. When was the last time they did an x-ray?

Your cold as well as the pain from OA seems to have knocked you about a bit. I do hope you start feeling better soon.

Let us know how you get on. Sending you best wishes.

Hello Rosyred, hope you're feeling brighter today. Pain is such a drag, it goes on and on and on. I don't know what pain meds you have but it may be worth getting them reviewed by your doc when he gets back (blasted volcano). I have 3 degrees of pain relief, co-codamol 30/500 for every-day stuff, tramadol 50mg for the rough times and oromorph (liquid morphine) for the 'God I want to die' times (which are thankfully rare). Paracetamol do nothing, they just don't have the required ooomph. I have psoriatic arthritis in my knees, ankles and feet. Every step hurts, even on good days, so I know how it feels. Take care and get out in the sunshine - good for Vitamin D which is good for bones. Dreamdaisy

Yr whoever, I think you're advertising. No-one can assure anyone of what works or what doesn't. Recommend, yes. Assure? No. Too arrogant by half. Dreamdaisy
