hi
am going to been having an arthrogram and was wondering if anyone can tell me what i'll be like afterwards?
it's going to be in my right hip and they say on the letter that i may have stiffness afterwards but i already have stiffness!!
what i want to know is will this aggravate the area more? is it likely to make the hip flare up?
also if i have the arthrogram in the morning, will i able to do mummy duties in the afternoon? ie: the school run, tea, bath, bed and then collapse
thanks in advance

Hi,
I have had a hip arthogram and I was told not to drive afterwards as they numb the area. It wasn't painful it was a funny feeling almost like your hip cramping. It didn't cause a flare for me but everyone is different.
If you need any more info let me know as i may still have the leaflet the hospital gave me.

Hi Suzie, sorry I don't know anything about this procedure. However, I would ring the department doing the procedure, explain your mummy-duties and ask them and then you will know. Does the leaflet say you can't drive afterwards?
Good luck. When are you having the procedure.
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi suzie,
I have had an arthrogram of my knee but not my hip so am not sure that it's the same......
They injected local anaesthetic into the joint first so after that I didn't feel anything. Afterwards the knee was wrapped in an elasticated bandage that I had to keep on for a week or so (they showed me how to reapply it so I could shower). my knee did make some weird sounds after! not sure what that was about but it was not painful just stiff and a bit more swollen.
I was also told to rest the joint for several hours after....so I think you might be optimistic planning to do the school run etc in the afteroon.
hope it goes ok....but don't overdo it!! get someone else to do the running and you rest.
