Sharmaine - your hubby sounds great - at least he tries. I will have a range of different peeps to help - plus a fair bit of struggling I imagine!!
Elna - I know what you mean, your description was very clear. Last time I had a THR I had one good, strong leg that more than compensated ... this time I will be relying on my THR and although it is pain free it is weak ... it is hard enough lifting that one into bed - it would never manage it's own weight and the weight of the other leg!! I worked really hard after the last THR to get the muscles working in it (Physio, hydro, swimming, aqua-gym equipment, normal gym, tai chi and yoga ... ) but it never fully recovered. In the end I got used to it and even begun to believe that all THR were like it. However, whilst receiving physio on my latest problem hip - the physio said she reckoned my THR leg had some nerve damage ... Wow I have digressed - thanks for the idea anyway!! It's amazing how resourceful we become isn't it?
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
This is such a great thread.
I'm not at the stage (yet) of having a TKR (heading that way though) but have found following this thread so interesting and helpful as it demystifies what it's like having TKR .
I'm sure lots of peeps think the same.
well done gals :!:
