Does anyone on here with OA in the knee or kneecap get secondary symptoms during and just before a flare kicks off?.
I am still in the tail end of one and I keep getting really heavy pins and needles in my shins and feet I also get a feeling like cold air is passing down my legs and over my feet!? I normally get this before it (a flare) starts but this time is really noticeable even now, if I stand up and walk anywhere around the house it really upsets it,it’s odd though but the pain is slightly less this flare?.
Sorry about moaning but I really hate this bloody illness it would have been better if I had them both lopped off me legs that is, at least I would get a small amount of fecking sympathy from those around me, especially the cow in the HR department, may she have the worst case of piles in human history.

Hi, I don't have OA but have RA and like you I get pins and needles in my feet, I'm not sure what causes it but it is usually before a big flare. I'm back with the rheumatologst next week so I'm going to ask them then and will let you know what they say x

    Hi Mel

Yes, I have had similar experiences just before a flare. I was very cold all day Saturday. dosed myself up with paracetomol aswell as my Preg, Tramadol and BP tablets and went to bed. Then sleeping 24 hrs, I must have kept the flare up at bay, although I am experiencing pains in my legs today especially my thighs. Trouble is, I never know if it is the OA or PMR (Polymyalgeria Rheumatica)
That started hurting like mad during last week, especially in my arms and shoulders, so increased my steroids again.
It's all trial and error. Think I am going to have to see if I can see my Rheumy nurse.

I get those sort of feelings in my left hand. I think its down to nerve problems in the neck and ulner (elbow) region, which have been diagnosed, together with carpel tunnel. Got the full house, are there any prizes???

Seriously, sounds as if you may have some nerve pinched or rubbed. I'd ask the doctor, next visit.

    Love Sue

Hi Sue I nave nerve problems with my neck and have always get tingling in the hands not as bad as this though, I am wondering if it is actually pain signals being blocked by the Nortryptaline, I get this feeling pre flare and then it gives way to flare pain, On Friday I had the tail end of a flare and it got quite intense, If I upset it to much a low deep flare pain came through the longer I was mobile, it's odd as I said I always get the symptoms pre flare but this time I got more of the cold and tingling than I did that sickly deep ache I normally get?!.
