Hi all
I have been diagnosed with Inflammatory Spondiloarthritis with shoulder and neck involvement for approx 2yrs now, I have been on Prednisalone (10mg) daily for the same period and also take (15mg) of Methatrexate once a week. During the last 18 weeks I’ve had 3 steroid injections and 4 weeks on from the last injection I’m suffering again. I have blood tests every 2 weeks and see the specialist at the local hospital every 6 weeks "Is anyone else on this roller coaster"

Hi brumey! welcome to the forum :D

I think you'll find that we are either in the car in front or the one behind you on that roller coaster :!:

If you're not getting relief from the meds you're on and the steroids injections, then arther is not under control and your rheummy, I hope, will be considering upping the dose of your meds or introducing something else? maybe anti tnfs?

you haven't said what pain killers you take nor what you have for night time? it's concerning too if you've not got proper pain relief.

It might be worth you writing down exactly how you have been, what helps/ doesn't help and ask rheummy what he intends to do next...there are just so many other alternatives, I don't think you should be left in such pain and arther needs to be brought to heel!.

I'm sure other peeps will be along in a minute with their advice.

    Hi Brumey,

Welcome to the forum :D They are a nice lot here.

Like Iris I am in n of the cars too and will wave at you  I also have the same kind problem with my neck and for me pregabalin helps.....I don't do well on preds. I have a temporary denerving in my neck every now and then and its topped up with trigger points and cortisone a=in between and like you say the relief doesn't always last long.

I assume you attend a pain clinic? I really hope they can find something that works for you. Take care Cris

    Hi All

Thanks for all your comments it gr8 to talk to others who understand arthritis.
I currently take paracetamol but not attending a pain clinic at the moment but who knows when I see the specialist in 2 weeks again he may suggest it? I am due to see a Physio for painful calf’s and hands sometime in the near future.
Are there any others forums I could get involved in so I can maybe understand my condition better?

    Thanks again

    Hi Brumey

    Good to meet you :D

Most of us are with you on the rollercaoster that comes with arthritis

Sounds as though you are getting good medical support. This is the best forum I think for information (have you downloaded any of the leaflets on the arhthritiscare site?). Any questions we will all try to help. The support is second to none.

Hope to see you around and about again.

    Love

    Toni xx

Hi Brumey. Paracetamol? That probably doesn't have the clout you need. My every-day pain killers are co-codamol at the 30/500 dose. They are reasonably effective, but can cause (and do with me) constipation. Apparently they can be addictive but I haven't found that to be so. Get them prescribed if that's going to be cheaper or see if you can buy generic over-the-counter. My doc gives me 100 at a time but because I'm on so much other stuff I have a prepay certificate for meds which is worth its weight in gold. I also have tramadol 50mg for the bad times and liquid morphine for the 'God I want to die' times (thankfully rare.) Good luck and feel better soon. Dreamdaisy
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben
