Update on pre-op for THR

Hi
Well, had my pre-op today for my THR and it went fine .... I think... just hoping I haven't got any nasty bugs that will prevent the op going ahead on 6th May.
The anaesthetist explained everything about the spinal block + sedation ... I will probably fall asleep, I think. There will be quite a big screen in front of me and I gather my particular surgeon takes about an hour to do THRs and I will be on my back rather than my side for the operation.
Everyone I met was very professional, upbeat and reassuring.. and I can honestly say I am not at all worried about the op now!
Oooh I will be sooo disappointed if it doesn't go ahead on 6th May as planned...

Hi Marion
so glad the pre op went so well! sounds as though orthos were really helpful and reassuring about it all and it's good they took time to explain about the anaesthetics etc.
You are in really good hands. : and just need to get yourself organised for the op now.
great news!

Wow Marion - that sounds a really positive experience. Great that you met the anaethesist (sp) too.
Last time I had my hip op I had a dead dishy one AND he was very reassuring and informative too.
I think I'll meet mine this time on the operating table!!
I hope it all goes ahead for you and me a week later ...
Take care,
SpeedalongI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Marion,
Glad it went well and they were good to you. I think you will be ok and the 6th isn't that far off now is it? Good luck and keep us posted. Cris x0 -
That's so nice to hear....hopefully it'll all go through for you...x0

Hope it all goes well for you Marion.
Sounds like you had a positive pre-op discussion.
I had a THR 4 months ago and it all went
really well. I had the spinal block and I would def
go for that again if the occasion arises.
Do as the physios and others tell you and I'm
sure you will be fine. Just to get rid of the pain
is wonderful, you will soon know that.
Good Luck
