I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Save your money.

Copper bracelets and magnetic wrist straps are useless for relieving pain in people with arthritis, say University of York researchers.

In the trial, 45 people aged 50 or over, who were all diagnosed as suffering from osteoarthritis wore each of the four devices in a random order over a 16-week period.

They were all ineffective in terms of pain, stiffness and physical function, the researchers reported in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine.

Hello Margareth64, they do work. It's like all things, some people respond, some don't. My mum seizes up if she isn't wearing hers, I do get some relief when the arthritis isn't flaring, so it saves me taking too many painkillers. I have long strings of beads and magnets, similar to the JML ones but far prettier! These can be wound around the affected joints and they do provide some relief. The best thing to do is buy just one and see what happens. It won't hurt to try. It never hurts to try. Dreamdaisy.
