 Hi everyone i am one happy Bunny today :D i did not think i would ever get excited over getting equipment to help me around the house but i am, My OT bought me my perch stool and a corner shower stool today to start with i have got other helpfull things coming but with just those two things make a differance,I must say having an OT makes a big differance as you know you don't have to struggle with things and they are very helpfull as they take notice of things you need and measure up to make sure they are the right size, items you need and you don't realise you need. All i can say if you need the help don't be afraid to ask for them they are a godsend, They are just simple things but when you have Arther they are like gold in making your life easier, sorry to go on but although in pain it cheered me up, love and luck to all  Wendylou xx

    Hi Wendylou,Im happy for you.
Ive got the perching stool & to be able to sit there doing all the veg on a sunday is a godsend. I dont have to use it all the time but its there for me on bad days.
I had by bathlift delivered today & although its there looking at me its an ugly looking thing but i'll get used to it. I might even decorate it with stickers to make it look at bit better.
Im waiting for rails & tap levers to be done & have the bed lever too. Thats brill & helps me so much.
    Enjoy your new gadgets.

Hi Wendylou - how fab. Why struggle when you can use gadgets to help you. Enjoy. Are your other bits of equipment coming soon?

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi Minky my perching stool is an extra wide one as i told my OT that i can;t stand anything touching my hips as they are painfull all the time so he took it into account and the one he bought out has got a deep cushion seat and back and has the side bars to help me get up and down, its like a throne but comfy so i can do my ironing in comfort know and your right they are a godsend. its amazing how the simple things in life pleases us isn't it, good luck and take it easy us Arther sufferers have to stick together take care hon.Wendylou x

Hi Speedy yes he's coming out in a fortnight with something else he has a list and when he comes out he watches to see if you can manage the things and tells you how to use them and to make sure your safe with them, when you try them out for the first time you can feel the differance, they are good helpfull people. Thanks for your reply and interest. take careand keep well. Wendylou x

Hi Wendylou, Yes we do have to stick together thats why i love this site. I have meet some lovely peeps here.
That was great that they got you the wider seat.
Mine has a deep padded seat & back cushion plus the sides too.
Its also brown so doesnt look out of place in the kitchen.
I do my ironing upstairs & would have to get OH to take it up for me,but at the moment i can sit on the bed to do it with the ironing board lowered.Ive got no storage space in this house so laundry, iron & ironing board are hidden on a holder on the back of the door in our room.
    Take care & enjoy,debs
