    Well Done Berty!

It`s all downhill from now on - OK, maybe that`s a bit optimistic, but you know what I mean.

I played down the "sound effects" cos quite honestly I thought it was a laugh. Like a builders yard!!

Be a good girl, do your exercises, rest, and most importantly.....come on here!.....Much love....Ange.

Oh bertygirl you poor battered love

for gawd sake.... listening to that  did they not give you headphones to wear? I had loud music played in my ears when I had my elbow 'done' and although no GA I was still given sedation so wasn't really aware of what they were doing or how it sounded.

Anyway, birthday girl you are home now and set on the road to recovery :D

keep us posted on your progress and don't be up dancing when no-one's watching.:lol:

Hello my lovely, all over now. :) No place like home aye? You are bound to be bruised on that leg. Arnica is good for bruising. I took the pills (there is a cream too) the second time around and unless it was my imagination, although the bruising still came out it changed to the yellow colour and retreated much quicker. :)

Try not to do too much  and RICE are the magic words, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevate. As my surgeon emphasised to me it is a major operation and will take time. He is right. No doubt you have been given instructions for exercises.

Do let us know how you go on and ask any questions, if you have any. I hope you are being spoilt at the moment  . :D Keep positive, all will be well.

    Luv
    Elna x

    Hi Berty -

so glad you are posting again ... you have done the worst bit now.

I'm sure the first 2 weeks post-op are the worst ... so you should start improving soon.

Your leg will have taken a battering and been moved into some pretty impossible positions ... no wonder your shin is protesting.

I love your description of "ambling" downstairs. Does that mean you are allowed to fully weight bear?

Keep us posted with blow by blow account of your recovery .... all the details!!

Enjoy being home but don't overdo it!! When I had my first THR 13 years ago people were kept in hospital for at least 2 weeks ...

Oh and happy birthday for yesterday.

    Speedalong
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Hi, so glad to hear all went well and you are now home. Take it easy and do as you're told! ( should take my own advice sometimes!!) You're very brave - I had an awful lot more morphine than that for my foot and I'm sure that's nowhere near as bad as a hip!) Take care and keep us posted. Very best wishes, Josiex
