Forgetfulness...

Is it just me or does anyone else find that the fatigue which arthur drags along with it makes you forgetful.

I seem to have, over the last few months, lost the ability to keep the plates spinning in my head and it's driving me batty!

Arthur is ok ish at the mo, the fatigue clobbers me in waves, generally for the first couple days post methotrexate but can drag on.

I just want to function as normal in me head, or am I asking for too much and just need to crack on with it?

I have come up with one coping mechanism, a notebook permanently in my bag to jot down things I need to do but them sometimes forget to read it!

I keep forgetting where I put things which is very frustrating.....

though the worst thing I've done (so far) was when a few days ago I 'accidentally' shredded my new car tax disc.

    I haven't phoned motability yet to explain...feeling such a numpty :!:

Hi Plugg - I haven't noticed a particular problem with forgetfulness but I do think that trying to deal with the physical and mental "joys" of arthur can take so much effort that you really can't be thinking about all the other things you need to be doing. Your notebook sounds like a good idea though - if, as you say, you can remember to look at it! Sorry I can't suggest anything more helpful, but I am sure that someone else will be along before too long with some words of wisdom. Take care. Tillyx

    Hi Plug,

Its a problem for me as well...... i seem to be so bad (or good) at forgetting things..... I also think its cus of drugs and well the fatigue thing is hell as well, been fighting falling asleep ever since I woke up

I also think I have done things only to find I haven't and I am becoming obsessed with the chickens being shut in and have to keep looking to make sure I did put them in..... If you get a cure please tell :lol::lol: Now did I shut the chicken in and are my keys back in the fridge...... Cris x

Hi, yes I forget things too but I'm not sure it's just the PA I have that causes that. You don't mention your age but, if you're hitting that dreaded mid-life turmoil, that could be a contributory factor. There is also the fact that our short-term memory does decline with age - I think blueberries are supposed to be good at improving memory, as is ginko biloba. I spent ages yesterday hunting for my glasses: they were perched on top of my head. Grrrrrr. Dreamdaisy

Yeah, you are definately not alone, I never used to forget anything but struggle to remember anything these days!! I'm only 35 too so can't even blame it on old age!!! I often feel foggy like I really have to struggle to concentrate. I* write lists all the time but then forget where I put them!! x

I drove to the dry cleaners this morning.

Went in, got hubby's jumper and proceeded to walk most of the way home before I realised that I had forgotten something!!

I would have written it on my list of things to remember if I had remembered to bring it with me!!

Am sooo glad I'm not the only one!

My head is so foggy these days, I spend most of my time in a dreamworld! Went shopping with the kids yesterday and must have forgotten to pick a bag up as I bought swimming shorts for son, but they weren't in any of the bags when I got home!

Am sleeping really well just now but don't ever wake up feeling refreshed.....just want to nod off again!

Well it's not just me which is good but bad if you catch my drift.....

I am just sat here working through today's list, at least it does not yet feature put on undies before leaving the house!

The other thing I have which you have too Joanne is totally losing my thread and my conversations go off at some weird tangents.

I'm 35 years young, but the other half had to count that out for me this weekend as I was convinced I am 34  must be losing me marlies too but never had many to loose in the first place

Thanks for your replies guys, even the norty ones :lol: , just nice to know you are not alone.

You have to remember to write 'put on undies'. Believe me, no harm results if you forget! DD

YES I too have a foggy brain, my kids keep saying that I drift off and stare out and dont hear them, I didnt believe it but have made a conscious effort to try to monitor myself and found myself drifting off mid conversation. I know some of it is due to tiredness and MTX does have quite an effect on me, but I think being in pain quite a bit makes me want to switch off. I felt pretty awful as theyre my kids and Im not hearing them but I tried to explain to them that I cant help it and got them to read a few side effects of my tablets.
I also put things in the wrong places such as coffee in fridge butr I soon realise when the milk carton wont fit in the cupboard. Ive found soem strange things in the fridge sometimes and often have to empty the bin to recover items
Im only 38 so not going to blame it on my age!!!

Hi all, yes I too have confusion and forgetfulness and thought it was age related (63years of living) I have decided it is stress related (well most of it anyway) as I have a daughter who loves to talk, and talk, and talk, and talk  I wish I could tell her to :!: but I love her too much and then there's my husband, when he starts you can't shut him up and he's normally quiet! over the years I have just switched off and now it's hard to switch on again!!

I just want peace and quiet so that I can think about what I have to do next, cos it can take a while for my brain to start working

Hi, I sometimes worry about not remembering things - I used to work with dementia sufferers, which starts me thinking I've got dementia!!! I think, for me, its a mixture of medications, pain and focusing on the simple daily tasks.

    Thats my excuse!
