Hi all
I am now at about 5 weeks post op and over the last week I have had hideous pain in my foot, it is in the heel and across the top!
Has anyone one else had this problem?

Hi Zec
I did not have any problems with my foot after a TKR. I am sorry to hear that you are getting jip - that is not what you need at this time, or any time.
I am aware that you use a wheelchair to get around outside but I am not sure if you walk about in the home environment. There are times when you get a new prosthesis or joint replacement that your gait or walking mechanics can change somewhat and can cause new stress in other parts of your lower extremities. Perhaps a gel insert would help if this is the case. I am sorry I cannot be of any great help.

Hi Zechariah
I had foot pain under my foot - same places as you. I found using an ice pack and elevating my leg helped. I'm seeing my surgeon on 17May and it's one of things I wanted to talk to him about. I was in a wheelchair for about 6 months prior to my op. It's marvellous that nearly 3 months on I no longer need my crutches or a wheelchair. I'm trialling new footwear that is well padded and recently purchased a pair of MBTs. It's early days but I'm hoping it will ease the foot pain. Someone suggested I ask for a referral to a podiatrist. The ankle improved after about a month but the heel area still gets sore and tender......and when it does I use my ice pack - its the only thing that seems to ease it.
After my TKR my ankle was sore and swollen and the area under my foot very sore.
How are you getting on with your new knee? It does take time for things to settle down.
With kind regards
