As I went to my rheumy appointment today very nervous after my rheumy appointment from hell last month. This was such a different appointment. The doc spent 45 minutes with me, letting me speak, asking about the impact on my life, asking my opinion on whether the biologic Im on works for me, It was lovely (ok I have RA and am in pain etc.. but I so appreciated the gentleness and thoroughness of this doc). She was suprised when I made a point of thanking her for everything when I left. I am now changing to another drug shortly so fingers crossed that will work., and I can have a steroid next month before my grandchild is born which should last for my holiday the month after. I dont feel any better physically but at least I feel like Ive been listened to.

Love to all
Theresa

It makes such a difference doesn't it? I'm glad that today went better for you, let's hope they're all like that in the future. Is she a new doctor to you? Can you stay with her? Dreamdaisy

    Hi Theresa
I am so glad this appointment went so well for you, it really does make a difference, when you get treated with humanity.
I do hope things continue to improve for you, I have my first rheumy appointment in June, and I am not sure what to expect.
    You take care

It was really good to sit there and be able to discuss all the problems I am having and she was really good about asking questions that no one really wants to ask like how it affects my relationship with my hubby etc.. She did say as its my 4th anti TNF of a similar kind it might not work but it will pass the time til another new one is authorised.

She also said that as I am seronegative RA the disease will be milder, I queried this as Im so sick of hearing its milder when my mobility and pain and swelling are horrendous. She clarified this point saying that although Im less likely to get severe deformity of joints it doesnt mean my disability will be less severe. They consider minimal joint damage milder disease but not less disabling. So aesthetically I will be better off :D It was good to finally understand the distinction between the two and feel less of a fraud for being in so much pain with milder RA

    That is good news
    Teresa,

Please dont ever feel like a fraud. I know it is difficult with the way peeps treat you but they really should know better.

Hi, I'm so glad that you've found a good rheumy. If you have the information about your illness, I think it helps you cope with the pain and problems it causes. Love Sue
