    Hi Aquaman,

Which type of arthritis do you have? I'm a rheumatoid.

I had bi-lateral knee replacements (both at same time) at age 42. I did experience a strange sensation in one of my hips where it felt as though the tendon was flicking over the hip joint and this was sometimes uncomfortable. This disappeared when I started taking Methotrexate 2 years ago. I've had my knees 10 years now.

Don't suppose this is what you mean but hope it helps anyway.

    Hi and welcome,

I'm in reverse to you - I have OA in both hips - have one THR and am having another hip op this month. I also now have pain in one knee - this has the beginnings of OA too ... due to the wear and tear of misuse resulting from my troubles with my hips.

Have you asked for an x-ray? Might also be worth asking for an appointment with a podiatrist to ensure you are walking properly as you might have developed an unusual gait which inturn could cause pain and can be corrected by insoles.

    Speedalong
I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

You're welcome  I wouldn't know if the two could be related being as though the causation of your TKR was through injury ...perhaps you could have a word with your GP especially as you've been getting the pain for six months ......something's not right.

Others with Oesteo will hopefully come and advise you very soon.

Hi. I don't have OA, just PA (which is bad enough I suppose!)

I think Speedalong was right - ask for xrays to see if the OA is spreading. Arthritis has a naaaasty habit of doing just that. I hope that apart from the hip you are feeling OK. If you chase it up let us know how you get on. Dreamdaisy

That makes sense Aquaman, it's surprising how much weak muscles can mimic joint pain.

Hi aquaman...nice to meet you. :D

If the doc thinks it's ligamentous...then maybe it's enthesitis?
which is a condition involving inflammation of the areas where tendons or ligaments attach to bones.
I get it a lot in my shoulders. Enthesitis I'm told is more common in peeps with PsA (which is what I have) but can also affect folks with RA so perhaps it's that?!

I guess you'll have to wait until rheummy has a look at it but I hope you get some answers soon and relief from the pain!
