Last night hubby and I started watching the epic that is Laurence or Arabia, haven't seen it before but we'd recorded it at the weekend. It had a 5 star rating........... Why? :?

We managed two hours of it before we could bear it no longer ….haven't they heard of editing? I have one word for it 'Boring'. b015.gif I couldn't find the storyline and once you've seen five camels ambling across the desert you've seen it all I think.

Do any of you like this film? Can you please explain to me why it had a 5 star rating and should I have watched it to the end …….is that where all the action was?

Please, someone enlighten me. :|

It is a true story , but is really hard to follow, to be honest I have never watch it all the way through...I do like the music though...trouble is like you my hubby taped it..for two days now he has been watching it in stages...its not a good subject in our house at the minute  :)

    Hi Barbara,

I reckon your hubby is only watching it in stages because he drops to sleep and then leaves it till the next time :lol:

Next time he puts it on I suggest you come round to my house and we'll watch something without sand and camels.

It's a magnificent film depicting one man's conflict with warring factions, man against man, man against nature and man against himself.

    Well worth 5 stars.

......and lots and lots and lots of sand. Obviously a man film (except my hubby) ...glad you enjoyed it Del

    Hi Toni,

It was in colour, so wasn't that old and the rating was given by Radio Times on today's standards.

I've come to the conclusion that a man rated it (one who likes sand  ) .....and I'm very happy to let Del be right and me remain uneducated.

I knew someone would like it. :D

If you get the chance to see The Hill that's another 5 star b&w film. No wimmin or music in it either.

Is that a sand hill by any chance Del?
