One of my early posts queried whether my humira jab had worked. After 13 days of real discomfort I realised it hadn't and did it on Monday. (I'm currently on fortnightly injections). Felt better on Tuesday, now it's all gone to hell in a handcart. This is my third shot at an anti TNF: the first lasted for three infusions (infliximab) the second for five months, before causing great liver problems (enbrel) and the humira nine months. I have puffy toes, ankles and hands (ALL HOT) but my knees (the original source of all the problems) are still relatively small and STONE COLD. Strewth, I'm hacked off with all of this.

I have done without preds for nearly a month now (after three years of swallowing the only lovely meds that work - you can keep sulph and meth) but tonight I'm giving in. I am going to have a lovely dose of 20mg because I know it will sort it out. **** the docs, **** the warnings, **** the impending osteoporosis, **** moon face, **** the weight gain, **** it, **** it, **** it. This is what it's come to. My treat is now - tahdah! - prednisolone. Dreamdaisy

DD, know exactly where you are at. However, after 8 years of taking pred in various doses am just barely getting over an immense reaction to it.......something I've never had before and it wasn't pleasant. Am now being weaned off it, or at least down to a manageable dosage (again).

Doubt if it will stop me upping the dose if things get to crisis in the future.

Hi DD - soooo sorry that Humira is not now working for you. Don't know what to say except that, like many others here I can fully appreciate your desperation and the awful "oh God where do I go from here" feeling. Hopefully the Prednisolone will give you the immediate relief you need to give you time to regroup and figure out what to do next. Please post an update when you feel able cos I know we'd like to know how you are doing. Thinking of you lots. Tillyxxx

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

((hug)) Sometimes, you just have to choose the lesser of several evils. I totally understand! The good news is, your bone mass can be monitored and the minute something starts to show up, you can nip it in the bud with bone-building meds before it becomes full-blown osteoporosis.

I hope you're feeling better soon!
